screm
Looks like Lakeside posted on their Twitter page just after 2pm that this meeting was off, that is of no conciliation to those who went thinking it was still on. One day speedway will learn that running play off, KOC, high profile meetings in the middle of October leaves you open to the weather, sadly that day wont be today.

marko
With all due respect Waco, if you were coming from anywhere in Essex or even North Kent, it doesn't take two and a half hours to get to Rye House, I am Chelmsford and I wasn't going to leave until 15:45 at the earliest had it still been on, and I would still be there some 30 mins before the start. I got as far as Brockley on the train, so like you, I'd left home as well. That's the gamble we take in dodgy weather.

Almost impossible to call what time of year is dry sadly.. Only real difference is takes longer to dry out at this time of year
liam
The rain could have held off until 16.59 then a massive downpour and it would have been called off, would people still blame the promotion? With weather and forecasts looking like this if you take a gamble that’s down to you, that’s how i see it anyway.

After two rain offs and two weeks to go I am surprised this isn’t planned some time this week as running it next Sunday wipes out yet another week. Chairboy
All this is great news for Peterborough. Next Friday, Lakeside v Workington. Saturday, Workington v Lakeside double - header. Then Lakeside v Peterborough on Sunday. I have to confess to having no experience of life as a speedway rider, but when the Lakeside team line up v Peterborough on the Sunday they will have already ridden in 3 matches over the previous 2 days, and driven the length of the country twice. Seriously, how do you cope if you are feeling the effects of an injury, or have a problem with a bike that needs fixing? waco
Indeed this is a very difficult scenario for the Hammers,,many however are used to these hectic scheduals it is part of being a rider in a very demanding sport,,They have to be tough to survive...... cityrebel
Sooner or later, someone in authority need to order clubs to rearrange meetings as quickly as possible, there is a similar scenario happening with the Coventry v Eastbourne fixture scheduled for the same day.
waco
Surely Lakeside would have contacted Peterborough before.naming a date,.if not another mess looks on the cards....
rocket007
The weather forecast for the Rye area for next week is set to be fine, so why can't a midweek night be arranged.

LagutaRacingFan
Lakeside announcing a date before the Panthers agreeing is very unprofessional. However, the fixture is on the BSPA website, so I'm assuming it's been approved. Sunday should be fine, only Scunthorpe and Workington are riding which means that the Panthers will have a vast array of guests to book. Am I correct in stating that you can't book guests from other play-off teams? That seems a really silly rule.
