Lakeside V Peterbrough Play Off Semi Final 14-10-18

Surely it'd be "in the best interests of speedway" to disqualify Lakeside and award the play-off semi to Panthers.  After all, there must be serious questions about whether the ramshackle stadium that Hammers are using these day is really up to it.  Does speedway really want to risk another farce, and possibly even two, down there?

It would be more of a farce to award a match to a team losing heavily. This should be a lesson learnt to run Speedway during the summer months and have all league fixtures and play-offs completed before the end of September. Leave October for outstanding Cup Ties and any other meetings.

In cricket, a test match isn't awarded.

I bet Cook, Lawson & Co are now regretting squealing at the Showground and trying to pull off a fast one.

Funny how they reckoned it was too dark and dangerous even though Panthers installed 3 sets of proper temporary floodlights (that were readily available on site along with a qualified electrician, please note).  Whereas the best Hammers could do tonight was stick a tractor with one headlight on the track, plus a couple of vans!

Oh dear..... talk about what "goes around comes around"....

Surely, you've just crossed the common sense line there :nono:

Is there anything in the rules that states a qualified electrician  should be in attendance as it seem there wasn't one there tonight .

prob just the basic HEALTY AND SAFETY ISSUES .nothing to worry about  really . you know , red to red , black to black . BLUE TO BITS . it is only electricity after all . who ever hear of anyone getting electrocuted ? hey, lust invented another word , wonder if it will catch on ?

It was only EIGHT completed heats, why do so many folk exaggerate the facts.

Lakeside also had the better gates for the majority of those heats. Panthers would have also had the pick of gates in heat 15.

Those 8 heats can't be used in isolation to extrapolate and produce a result.

Panthers had also stemmed the tide in heat 8 by stopping Lakeside's consecutive heat advantages.

Ignoring some of the less pleasant remarks from just one or two Panthers fans, as a Lakeside supporter I can see this being awarded to Peterborough. If rain had stopped the meeting at heat 9 - just as out of Lakeside's control as the lights going out - it couldn't be awarded. Lakeside hadn't actually won the tie, although obviously they were about to. The SCB may even decide that P'boro finishing top of the league could come into play.

Whatever, it's all very unsatisfactory. I feel for the Lakeside promotion, who are facing one disaster after another after what promised to be such a decent season. Unfortunately, Rye House is a dump, and I say that with some sorrow, as it was one of the first speedway tracks I ever went to, my parents taking me there as a kid in the early 60s, when it was a training track running occasional Sunday open meetings.

But why let facts get in the way of a good story? (aimed at them, not you NEP)

Cook & co are squirming and will be pinning their hopes on BSPA chums twisting the rules to suit them.
