Surely a better and fairer idea is to simply award the trophy to whichever team actually finished TOP OF THE THE LEAGUE.

Nah :)

With 10 days only of the season left surely the SCB will call the result as it stands after 9 heats

15.12 If a Team Meeting (15 heats or more) is abandoned after the completion of Heat 10 the result shall stand. If this is the 2 nd leg and the result is a draw, although an Aggregate result is required, the result will be calculated using the results of both legs, but giving precedence to the Team with the greater number of Heat wins e.g. 5-1 and 4-2 and if that remains undecided, then it is determined by the Team supplying the greater number of heat winners. In exceptional circumstances where the result is mathematically sure, following referral to the SCB, the Meeting may be awarded.

yes the result is not mathematically sure- but didn`t they award a result( at Redcar ??) when also not mathematically sure.

So when is the restaging, and will the electric bill be paid in time ?

Surely it'd be "in the best interests of speedway" to disqualify Lakeside and award the play-off semi to Panthers.  After all, there must be serious questions about whether the ramshackle stadium that Hammers are using these days is really up to it.  Does speedway really want to risk another farce, and possibly even two, down there?

That's a load of guff. The only part that applies to this scenario is the mathematically sure part.

It's black and white, the result isn't mathematically sure. Panthers were 99.9% out and Lakeside deserve to go through, but the rules require a result to be definite.

The boy's got a point.  :t:

Apparently Jon Cook has referred this to the SCB.

Why? The only option is to run the meeting again. If Lakeside can't stage the fixture, the Panthers would be happy to let them use the Showground.

Is there anything in the rules that states a qualified electrician  should be in attendance as it seem there wasn't one there tonight .

Surely Worky fans would prefer to face Panthers  - for several reasons:

Worky came out on top in both league meetings.

Panthers have a patched up team and even though they'd probably get better guests for the grand final, it's not the same as having your own riders.

Surely Worky fans would much prefer to travel down to the EoES for the 2nd leg rather than the horrible Rye House stadium.

At least when our lights fail, we have proper temporary floodlights on site! :D
