Under this yearā€™s regulations a new rider would be graded based on his experience elsewhere, with a minimum average of 4.Ā

So under this years regs he would be a 4.

Hopefully next years regs for Lynn he will a 2 if they went and got him:rolleyes::lol:

Possibly, as I said a starting average would be based on previous experience elsewhere,Ā that could be deemed to warrant a starting average over 4.

As should any foreigner wanting to ride over here. If they are good enough to ride in another country the minimum should never be less than 4.

4pts is a heatleader these days!

Just been looking at some stats. The Stars need some changes next season if they want to do better. They finished just under Swindon, but finished 6th in the league.

Official team GSA's to date

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Swindon 45.26

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā  LynnĀ  45.16

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā  IppoĀ  42.82

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā  PooleĀ  42.65

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  WolvesĀ  41.66

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  BVĀ  41.33

Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā Ā  Peterborough Ā  39.45

We need a big re shuffle next season.Ā  The only team not to win on the road this season, I think ?

These are this seasons riders away averages ( just this season, not GSA's, rolling aves and not for team building). But it will confirm we can't have as many home "track specialists" next season.

This season ourĀ  finishing 1-7 of Lambo, Cookie, Erik, TJ. MPT ,Lewis and Nik's combined away averages add up toĀ  just 33.76.Ā

Unlike so many I here, I don't put riders CMA as the be all of team building. Ā  Yes, I appreciate its the mechanics used for team equality,Ā  butĀ  application , attitude and passion have a far greater importance to the value of riders impactĀ  for the team. Ā  Your averages above illustrate precisely that ,Ā  although we finished way down the league , our riders CMA is second only to Swindon.Ā

Its obvious, for whatever reason,Ā  we don't perform as a successfulĀ  team. Ā Ā  Changes need to be made.. Ā

As I see it the reason is simple, our riders haven't been good enough away from the AFA. While it's great to have "Application, attitude and passion", does it have "far greater importance to the value of a riders impact for the team"?Ā  It will only get you so far imho. You could put a Championship side into the Prem, and they won't win anything with all the application, attitude and passion in the world..:t:

To be fair I think their is good argument for a minimum of 5 to be applied for all new foreign riders.

I totally agree with you, particularly for any newcomers.

Even those who have failed to reach the 4 or 5 assessed average they should only be allowed back on their assessed average.

So people say a big change to the team who would be your 1-7 ?Ā

Not my job, but Lynn have to many riders that ride the AFA well, but are poor away.

Not picking on one rider, there are several like it. Heres an example....

TJ has a GSA of 6.41... His home average for 2019 is 7.71 ā€¦.Ā  his away average is 3.78

Charles Wright has a GSA of 6.58 ā€¦. Home average is for 2019Ā  is 7.13 ā€¦. His away averageĀ  6.38. He goes ok at Lynn.

I'm pretty sure Charles woud average 6+ home and away for the Stars. We need a few riders like that imho.

The Stars need riders like that if they are serious about trying to win something. You have to grab points on the road.

Spot on. After having comfortably the best away record last year we now have the worst, riders like Proctor and Jorgensen unfortunately fell off the cliff edge with their away form but they werenā€™t the only ones, collectively we havenā€™t been good enough on the road and even adding Cook did little to improve things.Ā

I would keep Lambert, MPT and Riss for definite then build round that. Wright is a great shout for second heat leader and Nicol &Ā Pickering seem to appeal to several people to inject some freshness into the side. Maybe Jordan Stewart? Or somebody completely new to the UK, plenty of talented riders who competed in the Under 21 competitions this year.Ā

I don't think the home grippy trackĀ  does Lynn any favours in the long run.Ā  The Stars team appear to revel in the difficult conditions and therefore have a big home advantageĀ  But that probably gives a false impression of their averages. Ā Ā  When faced with normal tracks the differences between our riders and those they are racing, Ā  gives aĀ  more reliable indication of our strength, so infact, we are not so strong as we seem to think and the riders averages are actually a hindrance when trying to assembly a team for next year. Ā

I agree that we should keep the obvious 3, Ā  of RL, MPT and ER and build from there, taking in consideration of how they perform on normal tracks rather than grippy ones....
