Paulco
So the slagging off that has infested multiple threads over the past fortnight can now be put to bed and we can stick to this one to slag each other off . Finally we can get it on ( weather permitting of course) to decide who the northern representative in the final will be . Back in June Glasgow beat the Comets 50-40 while in Cumbria the Comets won 48.5 to 41.5 . Those two scores would do us very nicely . But those results dont tell the full story , Workington were understrength at Ashfield , with Klindt and Campton scoring 29 of the 40 points between them . Of course that was June 2018 BC ( before Cookie ) and we might well be Cookieless due to his injury . The choice of qualifying guests , should we need one , doesnt look appealing , with either of the Worrall twins the best candidates . But if Cookie makes it and is anywhere near fit enough , that just might swing it in our favour . Just as well it wasnt planned for today , even the ducks have went indoors .
bigbird
Can't wait for these two meetings.they should be crackers.from a comets fans point of view think if Craig isn't fit it definitely weakens the tigers and might be the difference of who makes it to the final.
MD
Biggest challenge is for the track staff trying to prep for Friday night. With 3 days of incessant rain now started and low temperatures predicted, we can only prepare a super slick track that will cope with further rain on race day. That plays right into the Comets hands IMO. We need to be super sharp from the gate to negate riders like Klindt, who is gone if he traps but wont pass if he doesnt. As well as Cook being a decisive factor, so will our reserves with Nathan Greaves likely r/r at No2. Sarjeant has been decent recently, he needs to be again and none of this tapes nonsense that lets everyone down. We need a practice for all the riders at Ashfield should it be possible. Lets get tore in!
jenga
looking at craigs movement of his left arm/hand on bt sports (sgp),and by local info , it looks like craig will be taking his place in the two legs . the best team may not win . but whoever loses at the weekend will not be the weakest team , far from it . so good luck tigers and comets and heres to , two legs of great entertainment . let the bitching begin (tic)
Carlislecomet2
Assuming Cookie is fit and with Comets having to go with rr for Dan it probably means Glasgow will be slight favourites, but hopefully the weather will play fair and we will see 2 cracking meetings. Bring it on.
scaramanga
im pretty sure craig is or is hopefole of riding other wise im sure Glasgow would have rode this week end rather than play for the egg cup hopefully win or loose they are both good meetings id fancy Glasgow to come out on top over the 2 legs but I also expected Edinburgh to do the same and we know how that turned out as many others have said how ironic would it be for 2 off the teams at the wrong end of bully boy antics to reach play off finals

We're at the play offs now , look forward rather than backwards . Look upon it as your team being ultra successful despite everything , constantly dwelling on a perceived injustice only has a detrimental effect

Neila
Just seen long range forecast on countryfile and doesn't look good, does anyone know if a re-stageing date has been thought of ?
jenga
that episode of countryfile was a repeat from 2012 . the weather will brighten up and a small hot climate bomb is already hovering over cumbria . so it says on not the nine o clock news ! You're asking a bit much, aren't you? Regarding r/r for Bewley, your success has been down to strength in depth, not having a recognised no1 but riders that can win races but also come 3rd or 4th. This has led to any of your top 6 being no1 or a reserve. Klindt, Jensen & 2 from Campton should cover r/r.
Weeyin
These should be cracking meetings , could go either way , without Cookie I suspect it will be much harder for the Tiggers and would also depend on our reserve guest. The comets have a really good strength in depth and a very strong reserve. If Glasgow don't get through then I hope the comets take the prize , got to keep it in the north, and before I get slagged for saying this , I am over my previous rant in another post .I met some lovely Workington fans on the plane to Torun and we had some good natured banter.

I personally find the Glasgow fans to be some of the best visiting supporters to Derwent Park, we shouldnt tar them all with the same brush much as we wouldnt like to be labelled because of the way some of our fans behave. This weekend should be a celebration of the fact both teams have made it to the playoffs and that we should see some very entertaining speedway

Tigerforever
Forecast for Friday and Saturday looks terrible, unfortunately that’s what happens when we get into October, and with Workington looking like they will be racing against alternative opposition the following weekend when would the fixtures take place? Glasgow can race any night but don’t believe Workington have the same luxury do they? With Cook sitting in a studio on BT sports on Saturday night due to his injury it’s a shame the teams didn’t race last weekend or at least the Workington leg as I know Sunday up here was wet most of the day .

Forecast for Thursday/Friday up in Glasgow doesn't look great and the weather for Worky on the Friday/Saturday would appear to be equally as bad, looks like there will be a lot of water put down leading up to and over that weekend. As stated Glasgow can race any night and Worky now have Sunday 14th October free with the Lakeside meeting/s re-jig, so as a guess possibly the Sunday at Worky and mid-week up at Glasgow is the possible solution. Ultimately track conditions could have a bigger say in these meetings than the riders from each side. Regards THJ
Neila
Forecast for Sunday looks a lot better both in Workington and Glasgow, maybe an idea to call off Friday and Saturday and run both meetings on Sunday one at 12.00 and the other at 19.00
