Birmingham final meeting of 2018 v Heathens Select and Wolves Select

Recommended Posts

Have got the programme, but didn't go, A quick glance suggests no Team Managers are listed.

I would ask CVS his thoughts if I could be bothered to go the Talk-In.

After 55 years of watching Speedway  this could be the final nail for me ......

Just an observation gentlemen. Plymouth Devils held a "season end" three team tournament which was quite well attended and was a great evening's entertainment. (each team had a manager listed in the programme)

A showpiece challenge between ""the undertaker" (promoter and club owner Mark Phillips) and Team manager (Mattie Bates) proved great fun but the undertaker had been out of the saddle too long to make an impression.

For me, and many Devils fans the highlight was there was no LR involved!

I wish you all well for the close season and hope that the BSPA come up with a formula that encourages teams to sign up for the 2019 season.

Argos, cradley or wolves had official race jackets with the club on.

That’s my point, because thay both had Official race Jackets, there respected Promoters must have  given Birmingham permission to use their names, Very amateur if no Team Managers, or more likely money saving

Sorry i meant they didnt have club race jackets on, was a shambles to be honest!

Well, that’s very very unprofessional and cheap,no Team Managers,No Race jackets, and from what I hear not many fans either,I dont go anymore due to that Clown Bossman, as does quite a few of my Mates, what i have heard off one that went was that it was one of the most boring meetings he as ever been to, He was keen on buying a end of Session Do Ticket But couldn’t find any information on it anywhere

When someone as dedicated as Lefty, who travels the length and breadth of the country supporting his team speaks in this way promoters would be wise to listen. Sadly... they quite simply don't.

It was announced several times that tickets were available from the "club shop".

And also that permission had been given for the  use of the Cradley and Wolves names. But I don't suppose that information will appease some people's hatred.

Who is the “Cradley No 1 Management” please

Chris van Straaten.

1 The team names were with permission of CVS.

 2. The Heathens Select had riders missing and unavailable for a variety of reasons from injury to work to riding elsewhere

3. There were no team managers as the meeting ran itself as long as a rider knew the heat he was in, the colour and gate from the programme there was no tactical moves etc to be made..and these were highlighted on their pit boards

4. Each team did have body colours (none supplied by the two away clubs) but every rider had the correct numbered race jacket as per their number in the programme ...Max Clegg wore his Wolves suit whilst Drew Kemp wore a Cradley race jacket.

Hope this all helps the doubters.

So the "teams" wore a random collection of body colours? Just as long as they had the right number on the back?   And they ignored the rules about a team manager having to be presenr?  Sounds like a right shambles.

Wasn't a shambles at all. Rogers and Mason looked after the riders, tho they all have programmes and mechanics to make sure their in the correct should they struggle. I would think majority of fans recognise a rider by their kevlars and helmet colour rather than the body colour too. It was an extra meeting for fans to see a bit more speedway before the winter without having teams from around the country. And for the Birmingham fans to say 'goodbye' to the riders. I don't see a problem with any of it tbh.

I find it interesting that some are saying this meeting was an affront to supporters when it was at the suggestion of a supporter that the three team format was used.

This forum is a constant reminder that many supporters' suggestions are an affront to many other supporters.
