Birmingham have had no luck whatsoever this season with injuries but they still went close to getting a Play Off spot, Birmingham have no god given right to win something every year, and Graham Drury is a hard act to follow, all in all i think considering the injuries that Brum have had your season wasnt that bad.. Is he up to the job? If you'd have asked me a few years ago, I could have given you an answer. Right now though, I can't give a hoot. The Shambles League has lost me. If Birmingham stay in it, I can't see myself being there to witness it next year. How on earth can a league be in a situation where the league standings are influenced by which teams the "no-hoper" teams like Stoke and Buxton decide to ride against and donate their league points to, and who they don't ride against before the cut-off date? I thought that Poole were a cynical team with their win at all costs attitude, but what we've seen this year by the "if we can't have the points, they you can't have the points either" attitude, just makes a complete dogs dinner of the league. And you can rest assured that these teams will go unpunished and will be free to do the same again next year. NO! Not for me, this league.

teaboy279
On the buxton situation. Don't both Coventry and Birmingham need to ride there still? So whilst I agree these fixtures should of been ran before now, in this case (luckily) it has not had any bearings on the the play off places.

They do but a lot will depend on their play off dates now due to the cancellations last week. We had provisionally agreed 14/10 with Cov and 21/10 with Eastbourne before last weeks cancellations. uk_martin
Come cut-off date, in the year of the blazing hot summer, whilst Belle Vue and Sheffield, tracks not too many miles away from Buxton had raced in the order of 20 meetings each, Buxton had completed only 10, Five of which were National Trophy. We are now in October and there is still unfinished business at Buxton and Stoke. Disgraceful. I'm sorry, but denying the other teams the ability to compete for league points (and probably get them) in good time, is a dishonour to the rest of the league, especially Coventry and Birmingham in this instance whose final league placings could have depended on their results at Buxton, and but for the grace of god, the situation could have applied to any other team as well. #speedwayshambles

More to the point, which is more important? National Trophy or National League? Why was the 8th July fixture a National Trophy fixture when it could have been a National League fixture, with the NT meeting waiting until after the cut-off date? The NT isn't time constrained, so why not make it wait until after the League match (which surely is in the more important tournament) has been fitted into it's time constraints. #speedwayshambles

If I remember correctly at the time of racing the NT match Bham were in with a chance of qualifying for the final.

LaurenceRogers
NINE names have now been confirmed for Birmingham’s ‘Rivalries Renewed’ season finale at Perry Barr on Wednesday, October 17 (7.30). The three team, four-man tournament will see the Edwards Plumbing Brummies take on Wolves and Heathens Select sides on an exciting night of racing in the second city. Fans’ favourites James Shanes and Leon Flint will ride for Birmingham – the latter declaring himself fit for the finale after escaping with no broken bones from two heavy crashes at Mildenhall last weekend. The Brummies quartet is completed by rising star Anders Rowe as well as Dan Gilkes – a 3.00 unattached rider who will be hot property in the third tier next season. Wolves’ Select side includes Birmingham’s two-time title winning captain Tom Perry, former British Under-19 Champion Max Clegg and Dan Greenwood who had a brief spell with the Brummies earlier this season. Meanwhile the Heathens Select includes teenage wonderkids Drew Kemp and Kyle Bickley who both rode for Cradley during their 2018 National Trophy campaign. Birmingham co-promoter David Mason said: “We’re delighted that the line-up is looking so strong and competitive with just a few of the reserve positions left to fill. “It’s going to be a great meeting with a different format to round off the year and hopefully it’s going to appeal to all supporters across the Midlands because the winter is very long without speedway.” TEAMS SO FAR: BIRMINGHAM: James Shanes, Leon Flint, Anders Rowe, Dan Gilkes. WOLVES SELECT: Max Clegg, Tom Perry, Dan Greenwood, TBC. HEATHENS SELECT: Drew Kemp, Kyle Bickley, TBC, TBC.
