Rye House is a nice little stadium for a sitting out on a summer evening, but virtually every race is over by bend two. There wasn’t a lot of prep time but I understand Ken is going to spend a couple of days over there this week to try to do something with it. I hope he can . I don’t think I can take a whole season of racing as it was on Saturday. Ken was talking to the riders on Saturday, to see how they want it it done. My sentiments precisely - I was relieved when Cook came on the mike & said there would be changes to the track; unfortunately it’s been shocking for the last 2 years, with one racing line around the fence

You're gonna need to get jenno off the tractor first!
waco
Getting a run off the second bend was vital and in general some of the Hammers gating was not as good as at Lakeside, this has to improve if we wish to beat Peterborough next sunday ...I was surprised at the apparent lack of effort against Peterborough ,,,Nick Morris aside ,,,after we had qualified for the play offs after the first match which was excitingly close all the way ,,,Change the starting gate surface to mirror Lakeside may help and with the inside line improved could ring the changes on sunday.... I used to quite enjoy my many visits to Arena Essex with the Diamonds. A technical track, it needed to be thought out, and the big blasters usually got acquainted with the fence, particularly the second bend. Most impressive rider I remember from then was seeing Kylmakorpi for the first time, and he rode every possible line with great affect. Great rider and you never knew how he was going to ride. Obviously not a track for the big track fans, but nevertheless a technical track where you needed a brain, not just a fast engine.

Can’t see the point in having 5 tractor breaks per meeting , when you’re only dragging dust onto tarmac, there’s still only one line around the outside!
barraider
Is there lots of lines at arena?

From what I can recall, this year only twice has the outside line been poor & one of those was after the Ride n Slide day, when I guess they had time constraints preparing the track. The inside line is always fine

I notice at Rye on Saturday that the track had been ripped up for the first 5-10 metres off the start , just as it always is at Lakeside, but of course it is an entirely different surface at Rye which messed set ups up a bit. . Also Adam was carrying a shoulder injury so he could barely hang on to his bike as the evening wore and Ben was knocked around in the crash involving Ludwig Lindgren and Jack Thomas in the Newcastle match. I spoke to Ben after his last ride (I think had 10 races altogether including covering the R/R position) and he said he was "Knackered, battered and shattered". Both Adam and Ben were well below par in that match. I don't think you can judge either of them by that performance I just hope they are fit by Sunday. I think also he announcement before the Peterborough match that Lakeside were through to the play offs meant some of the riders relaxed a bit now the pressure was off in that sense.
waco
Hopefully Adam and Ben are going to be recovered fully for Sunday as the team will need to be firing on all cylinders ..At the moment the weather forecast does not sound great ..Ben at least has had a couple of outings since and has performed well enough at the lower level...If Zack is out the guest could be vital? ,,and I do not think R/R really works for Kyle Newman ?
marko
We have no choice but to use R/R for Newman. As for Zach I have looked at the green sheet averages and there isn't much choice out there, the best pick for the home leg could be Broc Nicol, Theo Pijper would also fit and is a very experienced rider and would be a good pick for Peterborough, I have no idea on his history at Rye. cityrebel
If it's off on Sunday, I can see another double header looming on the 29th.
liam
Really can’t be bothered to go and see Peterborough three times 50 miles away. When is the return to Essex? Lol
marko
There is actually a weather warning now issued for Sunday, it’s more about strong winds than anything else, another event happening Sunday is an air show at Duxford, that’s likely to be serverly affected by the weather, unlike speedway though you have to buy tickets in advance and there is no refund. what is the situation at Rye regards available dates? I've decided to go to football on Sunday instead. All the uncertainty with speedway was the deciding factor.
waco
Looking at the above posts its obvious that multiple meetings with Peterborough are not going to be popular with the fans and you can not blame them it is a ludricous situation befitting the idiots running the sport these days......
