Based upon rough current form (and we all know that means little in speedway) Kent - Current Points 34 - Buxton away +4 Total 38 Coventry - Current points 28 - Buxton away +4, Buxton Home +3, Mildenhall Home 0 Total 35 Eastbourne - Curent Points 28 - Stoke Home +3, IOW Home +3, Mildenhall H ? Total 34+? Birmingham - Current Points 30 Buxton Away + 4 Total 34 A slip up anywhere for any side and the chance has gone, Buxton & its notorious weather will play a huge part in the run in as any matches not completed will have a serious impact. Its entirely possible that 2nd place Kent could miss out if the match isn't run...... I can't imagine any Brum fan would be that bothered after the season we've had? You can defend the promotion as much as you like, but running no home meetings in the peak holiday season is a suicidal business model. No wonder the crowd levels have been poor for last few home matches. With Rye House running a championship double header tonight for only £2 more, that is where my money will be going. It is true, both Eastbourne and Coventry enquired about the possibility of racing at Buxton on 16th. As we were not prepared to choose one team over the other I referred the matter to the authorities only for Eastbourne to say they couldn't come after all, so the date was offered to Coventry. They are not very good at giving reasons to the supporters for their decisions. If they don't beat Mildenhall on Saturday or it is rained off then they could be out. Surely with Baseby and Powell plus anybody else missing they could use guests? It is unbelievable that they would be prepared to take that risk. Fixtures still have to be completed by end October so they could be second in the final table but out of the play off's. Makes us wonder if they are going to pull the plug in 2019. The only way Eastbourne won't qualify is if Birmingham win at Mildenhall (no chance). So they may as well go to Buxton when they have a full team & not ride a double header the night before. Jon Cook said on the mic last night that if Berwick won at Ipswich by 4 points they would be level with Lakeside but then Lakeside only had to score 25 points against Peterboro and they would still go through. Sorry, didn't hear it, in that case as their difference is far better than the other 3, baring two unlikely events, a Birmingham win at Mildenhall, and a big loss by Eastie at home to Mildenhall together reckon Eastie should be through with Kent and Coventry if they take all points against Buxton. Presume Mildenhall will avoid picking Eastbourne in the semi's as their only loss this season was at Arlington in the Trophy and possibly in the league to come.
