All TV meetings should be £10. The general pricing structure is okay imo, there are cheaper standing areas which naturally fill before the grandstand. The prices are pretty competitive

They can’t be £10, if BT are not paying. The promotions lose when BT are in town, so why lose even more?

The crowd at Poole on Wednesday was much much bigger than the crowd at Belle Vue on BT. Last week you said the meeting against Wolves would be the smallest crowd of the season. You were wrong, as crowd was very good.

Poole has a catchment. There is no other major sport in the town.

Manchester is bigger but its dominated by other sports so all it means is there are more people who don't want to go to the speedway.

Tapping into that market share is hard. Their money is already spent.

Like I said earlier, speedway just doesn't have the pull.

That said, on a Friday we were getting over 2k regular and that is amongst the highest in the league.

The fixed race night has hurt us.

The attendance at poole on Wednesday was just over 1400 fact

We have a premier league football club less than 6 miles from Wimborne Road.

And BV have 2 within 1 mile. Arguably the 2 biggest clubs in the UK.

Pooles dynamic is totally different and I would argue its much easier for you to get a a steady fan base, especially when you've had the same race night for donkeys years.

BV have suffered massive trauma moving to a Monday.

We've lost about 600 off our regular crowds.

It's a bit of a pointless debate.

BV on a Friday would have the highest crowds in the sport, and its as simple as that. (in the UK)

What people need to remember is that the NSS holds around 4.5k.

No club in the UK averages even half that amount so the place will always look a bit empty.

It's basic common sense. Just because you see empty seats doesn't automatically mean it's a poor crowd.

It's the biggest stadium in the UK.

Edit.

I've just looked it up and City and United average 54,000 and 75,000 respectively. We also have other top football, rugby and cricket teams plus more theatres, restaurants, clubs and music venues than in the Poole catchment area. What we don't have is lots of tourists looking for something to do in the holiday season.

Ipswich will hold at least double of 4,5k

Man City are certainly not the second biggest club in the UK. They can’t even fill their stadium for most of their matches. Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Celtic, Newcastle, ManU,  Liverpool have bigger attendances. They might be the richest club though.

Perhaps the new league format, announced at the up coming agm, will mean clubs can ride on any night they choose, with the caveat that they don’t sign riders unavailable for meetings abroad. Riding on a Friday could well mean no GP rider. And would be unfair in the other team and all fans if a visiting has to ride with riders missing.

Man City are now 4th on the euro index.

Totally different debate but in the UK they are 2nd only behind utd.

They sell out every game, some don't turn up but that's down to the tourist element in the fan base which is a by product of the clubs rapid growth and success.

You could use the same argument for Wednesdays as that is potentially unfair on clubs that have Danish riders. :D

Money wise yes. But West Ham have much bigger crowds as do Arsenal. Man City attendances are 5th in premier league.

2 Tottenham Hotspur Tottenham Hotspur 1.291.103 19 67.953
3 Arsenal FC Arsenal FC 1.127.133 19 59.323
4 West Ham United West Ham United 1.080.808 19 56.885
5 Manchester City Manchester City 1.022.434 19 53.812
6 Liverpool FC Liverpool FC 1.007.931 19 53.049
7 Newcastle United Newcastle United 987.844 19 51.992

Average attendances is only 1 indicator though and is driven entirely by the size of stadia, which makes it unfair.

The euro index is the best measure, it looks at generated revenues, the clubs individual wealth, and many other things. That's a true measure of a clubs size.

If Man City had a stadium that held 70 plus k they would fill. The stadium will be getting another expansion very soon taking it over the 63k barrier.

Both Manchester clubs are monsters and tapping into that market place will be very challenging for BV.

Correct. It was also on TV.

1700 under those types of circumstances is a very decent turnout.

We were hit with the TV, it being an off night and the kids just back at school. Taking that into account the 1700 was ok and still the highest attendance that week in the UK for a team event

Belle Vue are without doubt the best supported club in UK speedway but that also indicates the troubles currently facing the sport.

Belle Vue don’t have to tap into that market. There are a lot of sports fans who can’t stand football.
