That is pretty arrogant indeed, especially when results clearly show Luca would not be competitive in world championship racing.

I have to say personally though that G Bauer was happy to pose for a picture and sign a postcard for my 3 year old last year in the pits at Inzell so fair play for that

You have to feel sorry for Luca in some respects, in that Dad is pushing him forward when he's possibly not ready. Yes he can ride, and Yes he has SOME experience, but he needs to ride in meetings where his Dad isn't riding. That may be hard if he can't drive or doesnt have the resources to travel to meetings without Dad.

On your second point, Bauer is a fans favourite because he will sign autographs and pose for pics with fans as he did for you and your son. He just appears to have a problem with other German riders. However I fully expect him to be the Inzell wild card this year!

Johann Weber is also very good with the fans & I would say there were more fans wearing his bobble hats etc than Bauer. That was the case at Inzell last year. Also, I would say that last year access to the riders at Inzell was brilliant for the general public. Pits open immediately after practice & before each days racing. You can even get to the Russians which was impossible a few years ago. Really looking forward to Inzell & Heerenveen again this year. Can`t make Berlin though. Hopefully it`ll be on the list to do 2020.

Another busy weeekend in Russia with the Super League rounds 5/6 in Ufa, and the Major League Rounds 1/2 in Neftekamsk.

Ufa hope to have a video stream and the meeting starts at 9am GMT both days, whilst the Neftekamsk meeting doesn't appear to have a stream at the moment, but this can change. The best stream last week in Shadrinsk came from a fan in the crowd with an iPhone so it may well be the same this week.

No start time for the Major League meeting at this stage, but as it is in the same time zone as Ufa, it may very well run at the same start time. Once I have the links I'll post them. The Russian Forum usually carries live updates to both meetings http://www.russpeedway.info/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24

Not the best streams we've ever had, but some interesting racing, and a few upsets. Round 6 tomorrow at 9.00GMT

I'm still waiting for the full results of the Major League meeting but I believe Kamensk Ural's second team won after a three way run off.

I thought ice speedway was big in Russia, but the crowds I 've seen this year seem pretty small.

Is the sport still state funded?

A lot of teams struggle as the sport funding for many of the regions was sucked away to pay for the World Cup, so Speedway & Ice Speedway have suffered.

The crowds appear to averaging around the 900-1000 mark, which appear to be down on previous years too. Maybe they have the same problems as us in that the die hards are keeping the sport going

The draw for the Ice Speedway Gladiators Final 1 this weekend in Almaty, Kazahkstan:

  1.     919    Dmitri Khomitsevich    MFR    Russia
  2.     58    Stefan Svensson        SVEMO    Sweden
  3.     33    Johann Weber        DMSB    Germany
  4.     16(WC)    Sergei Serov        AMFK    Kazakhstan
  5.     5    Vladimir Cheblokov    AMFK     Kazakhstan
  6.     665    Charly Ebner        AMF    Austria
  7.     333    Daniil Ivanov        MFR    Russia
  8.     100    Franky Zorn        AMF    Austria
  9.     192    Niclas Svensson        SVEMO    Sweden
  10.     106    Dmitri Koltakov        MFR    Russia
  11.     97    Ove Ledström        SVEMO    Sweden
  12.     88    Max Niedermaier        DMSB    Germany
  13.     181    Andrei Shishegov    AMFK    Russia
  14.     114    Dinar Valeev        MFR    Russia
  15.     383    Nikita Toloknov        MFR    Russia
  16.     199    Martin Haarahiltunen    SVEMO    Sweden
  17.  Reserve    Denis Slepuchin        AMFK    Kazakhstan
  18.  Reserve    Pavel Nekrassov        AMFK    Kazakhstan

German Stefan Pletschacher isn't riding due to injury, and from what I can gather it was too late for first reserve Jimmy Tuinstra to get to Almaty, so they used veteran Vladimir Cheblokov. Never heard of this wildcard Sergei Serov. Jesper has put up the live links, and if the FIM update their app in time, then the results should be on there

Its also the Russian Junior Team Championship in Togliatti this weekend, so if there is a live feed I'll try and post it.
