The stop start season starts again. The Diamonds should be well up for this after Thursdays thrashing of the Tigers. Are we at full strength?  Who is Panthers guest?

DOES ANYONE HAVE A WEATHER UPDATE AROUND THE TRACK AREA PLEASE ?

It's cool with no rain now or forecast. Should be OK with plenty of rain in the shale already from Friday .

Good luck to the Diamonds tonight lets hope we can not undo the good work done on Thursday and get back to winning ways at home after two consecutive defeats.

Enjoyed the meeting this evening and full credit to the Panthers for getting a point after being 10 points down. I think it was the wrong decision in heat 15 as Starkey clearly did not touch Robbo and that would have given us the draw. could be a useful point in the long run. Still a couple of riders not at  the races tonight but we win and lose as a team.

lets be fair in heat 15 … even in a rerun ...… kus could well have beaten starke as he did in heat 9 ......…  so the panthers were hardly 'robbed' off a draw

I do agree it looked as though starke got through cleanly, but to be fair the ref had the red light to stop the race as soon as robson fell and he had the yellow light within 2 seconds … so he clearly saw something

cracking meeting …. well done to the diamonds who I think deserved the win ……  nicholls a class act …… just as well it took him 2 rides to get dialled in

So why does Robbo admit that he wasn't touched?

Thoroughly enjoyed the meeting last night with some good combative races.  Scott still a class act and good leader, who engaged with the fans during the Ben Fund collection during an enforced delay with a torn gate panel and damaged gate. Ludde had a torrid night, but fortunately Matej, and especially Robbo, were back on top form with some stirring races especially from the front. Good steady backup from the 4 'alleged' reserves gave good back up when necessary, saw us across the line in the end despite a good fight back late on by the Panthers especially Scott. After heat 13, a draw looked certain, but a rash dive in on the inside from an 'outside rider' like Starke was desperate, and although he didn't appear to touch Robbo it did cause him to fall. Maybe a draw was going to be a fairer result and nobody would have begrudged them by the efforts of their top 3 plus the galant Bacon, but Starke's exclusion gave us a well needed win again fancied opposition. One of the best meetings of the season, along with the cracker against Ippy with Covatti. Nice to see quite a few Panthers fans on a Northern Tour. Oh to get back to us having a southern tour like in the 00's.

Great meeting and racing in the NJL meeting again against a Peterborough team,  the Motive Thundercats. Late start meant the track seemed sweaty, and a few falls early on which affected the diminutive Perry's scoring, I think on his first visit. Hope he is OK today with what looked like a wrist injury.  Determined riding by especially Josh and Archie, with great backup by Danny, and 'enthusiastic' riding by Stephen, made the result look safe from the early heats. A great night for Newcastle Speedway. Referee gave good assistance and leniency to get both meetings, a large fence repair and full second half in with a lateish finish.

It was that or get taken off. Good avoidance reaction. :approve:

He wasn't quoted as saying that in the text I read, If you're right I apologise.

I think it's on a Facebook post.

Very enjoyable meeting raced by two committed sides, a draw would have been a fair result, my first thought was starke passed cleanly, and seemingly robbo admitted he wasn't touched so we got the decision tonight might go against us next time,,

Robbo's words were "he was nowhere near him."

Here is what Robbo says on Facebook:

I’ve just had a read of the report on BSPA site from last nights meeting and thought i should probably comment on it. I didn’t openly admit that I wasn’t touched coming into the corner, I said to Paul that I wasn’t sure if he hit me or not, either way the ref made the right call as I had nowhere to go and I didn’t fall on purpose, he came under me pretty hard and took my front wheel and I couldn’t turn the bike into the corner. It was a racing incident that could of went either way with the decision and without video technology to view it from different angles the ref has to make a call on what he saw from where he was.

Another incident involving Starke, anyone any idea why he was gesturing and flailing his arms about during and after ht 9 ? A good scraped victory in the end, that the Diamonds needed at home. Palm Toft in ht 15 might have been a better option.
