Race for the Top 4

Recommended Posts

Wasn't there a situation a few years ago, when Leicester was "ordered" by the BSPA to ride a match at KL on a particular date after attempts by the two clubs to agree had failed? I think it was Leicester who were the "refusers" on that occasion but had to comply otherwise presumably cop a heavy fine?

If so, I suppose the BSPA can do the same this time and order KL to fulfil the fixture on one of the dates proposed by Somerset?

It is said the cut-off date is 10th Sept,    but would it be possible to race the last fixtures up to and including on that date ??         If so then  surely Somerset  V KL could be played on that date and make tremendous television.    :t:

Imagine  those 'terrible two  commentators ' getting really excited.

Belle Vue are home to Somerset on September 10th !!

Can't see Buster giving himself a fine and Godfrey wouldn't go against his partner in crime. I'm sure the pressure and fines would come from the SCB.

As Shovlar said, Somerset offered 3 different dates. Chapman refused all of them, but wanted to come down on a Thursday instead. The Thursday before the Krsko GP was when he wanted to come down  when Ipswich could possibly be riding (so no Covatti) and Doyley would be off to Slovenia.

People keep saying about Lynn refusing the 3 dates. What i would like to know which people are avoiding is what are those dates. Then we draw conclusions as to whether Lynn are wrong in refusing them. It's obviously got to be an off night. So the chances are 1 of the teams may have a rider or 2 missing.Maybe Somerset want it all their own way and are making sure those 3 dates are when they have all their riders and Lynn possibly some missing.

Somerset have virtually offered Lynn every Monday and Wednesday available (even getting Leicester to go to OTA last night, to free up yet another date) but the people at KL - and it isn't necessarily Buster who's being their idiot - have been totally ridiculous to deal with.  The Rebels have finally demanded that the Management Committee step in, and set the date.   Somerset totally innocent here, the KL camp totally stupid.

We need to hear the Lynn side of the story but IF they have been offered every Monday and Wednesday and won’t come then tough luck, Somerset should get the three points.

Had thought the same as the above poster, Mr Chapman leaves that kind of thing to his co promoters so he has probably had very little to do with it.

So the meeting got called off on July 11th.Somerset offered Lynn all the available Mondays and Wednesdays. So the dates available was July 18th.That's it,one day was the only time both Somerset and Lynn weren't riding.

Dates must of been included for Somerset to run a double header when King's Lynn wasn't riding. That's 2 other dates as the 15th and 20th August.

To get this fixture in, a Tuesday may be ideal. Somerset without Doyle, King's Lynn without Lambert so fair and square.

Do you think they would have wanted to run a double header? You could count the 20th out, they wouldn't have run a double header with BT there i'm sure.

Wouldn't Iversen be missing on a Tuesday also?

Just now, racers and royals said:

No - he rides for Smederna and they are in the QF’s over the next 2 Tuesday’s

We'll go without him too, just go there expecting nothing and pick a load of Championship guests.

We need to get the fixture done and try to finish top on merit rather than stopping a team riding all their home fixtures.

Well offer days other than monday and Wednesday. It's ok for Swindon and Poole to do this

He's off again!! :D

I thought the home club has to give the away team three different dates to run the fixture and the away team HAS to pick one of them...?

Wouldn't have thought they have to take one.You know what would happen the home team would probably pick the dates where the away team are at their weakest if they could.
