I reckon we can double our money with another 25 points.....got to be looking to win all of our home matches, win big twice at Leicester and then pick a point up at the two best race tracks in the league which should suit our dodgy gating.

So you are predicting the Stars are not getting a point from the Oak Tree Arena?  Or Monmore?  Or NSS?

Monmore. Wolves away and Poole at home are the two trickiest fixtures in terms of expected points IMO.

People can say what they like about Speedway about it dying on it's arse and poor standard of riders etc etc... but when was the last time the top division was so open? Who knows who will make the top 4 and in what order. Has to be the most open season for many a year. Somerset are the only team to remain unbeaten at home but even then have dropped points in a draw. The next few weeks of the season should be brilliant.

Agree. Season is a thriller. Shame about Rye and things need to be sorted this winter but any team can win this season, except perhaps Leicester.

Because the points totals the teams are unusually close together.,  five teams separated by only 3 points.   I can see this going to the wire.

Belle Vue's  lost last night was massive, 3pts they could ill afford to lose.    but other teams can also suffer in a similar way.    August should answer a lot of questions...

Of the top 5 now, Swindon having played 2/3 matches more than the rest, are looking precarious,  but are still very much in it.

I'll going to go with   Somerset, Poole, Lynn  with Swindon edging out Wolves for the last place....

If Poole do indeed finish top Steve, who would you pick to face in semi finals. King’s Lynn??

My names not Steve, but i would take Lynn. IF, we finished top.

The matches, a team has against Poole  will have a big bearing on their finishing order.;    Somerset still have to play them 3 times,  Swindon  twice; and Lynn, Wolves and Leicester only once,   Those matches, Poole against Somerset,  could determine who gets the choice of semi-final selection.

...and 2 of those Poole v Somerset v Poole meetings can be seen live on BT on 13th and 20th August, so all viewers can judge who seems best for the play-off choices.

Two losses for Poole and then Swindon can finally boot them out of the play offs on the 22nd! Happy Days!!!!  :)

  • 2 weeks later...

As time moves on the pursuit for Play-off positions is really hotting up.  Acquiring 10 pts in a week, really has brought Belle Vue back into contention.   The next two weeks will offer most teams the chance of staking a claim,  but also it could be disastrous for teams who slip up.    All Monday's fixtures went with home victories, but I m sure they all wont go  as each will predict.

Looking at the league table,  Swindon and BelleVue have both played more matches than the rest, and must be hoping that   'The bird in the hand '   is better than  cramming in  loads of matches..        Away fixtures are of the utmost importance and offer teams the chance of those elusive  bonus points.     Tomorrow.s 'Double Header'  of  KL v Wolves  is massive.   Winning both matches would push the Stars up into a  prime  PO position , but losing them would be catastrophic and all but end any hopes of them P/O places.   Wolves on the other hand  have no pressure should they lose, but if they were  successful it would virtually guarantee a P/O  place.

We are now at the point of the season where every match is of  paramount  importance....    :t:
