Can someone confirm that the reserves at Cardiff are not every year 2nd and 3rd in the British Final- in 2017 Josh Bates was reserve and i`m pretty sure he wasn`t in the British final !!

Lambert was track reserve in 2015 and didnt contest the British Final

Sure riders like Bomber and Danny will take something from the meeting, good experience to stand them well for the future in the sport.

Well, you learn more from your defeats than you do from your victories, so Bomber should come out of the meeting a genius!!! :t:

Did I say that???

More fool you!

Never say they can't get any worse; some people will take that as a challenge...

If you dont have a format for choosing the track reserves there will ALWAYS be somebody who disagrees with

the chosen choice.  Therefore to go in order of finish at the British Final is  undisputable by anybody.

Poland who might just know a bit about how to run the sport haven’ t ever picked riders such as Protasiewcz and Hampel as track reserves !! They have always picked youngsters to give them an experience of the big stage- just shows the light years difference between the sport in the 2 countries !!!

But they do seem to have moved from picking the most promising young riders to just taking the local under 21 rider. ( e.g. Liszka in Wroclaw).

I agree. but unless you have  a known format that everybody knows there will always be somebody who disagrees

with the choice.   If the powers  that be came out beforehand and said their reasoning for the choice of reserves

we would have a better understanding.. I totally agree with you it would be better to give a young one a chance

am not sticking up for the oldies just pointing out the system.

Liska is no mug and has beaten some decent riders in holding down his team place in Wroclaw this season, including Pedersen away at Zielona Gora on Sunday !!

Before the SON and the British Final. I went on record to say that I thought Charles Wright should be the choice for

SON ( not bomber )  it was immediately shot down in flames by an Aces supporter who went on to say he thought

Wright was a  `bang average rider `  subsequently Wright went on to win the British Final in impressive style.   In my

opinion Wright is an exiting fearless rider but everybody has their opinions and until  there is a format  laid down in stone for

choosing the track reserves there will always be some dispute.

Seems that Craig Cook was approached about getting a reserve place for Cardiff but turned it down as he wanted to be there on merit. IMO the two reserves should be two of our younger riders, Edwards and Kemp would've been ideal especially as both qualified for the recent European Under-19 Final, maybe Dan Bewley or Leon Flint. Not quite sure what King and Harris will learn from the experience.

With British Under - 19 Final taking place at Redcar last night, would it not have been an idea of having the top two as reserves for Cardiff. So this morning Drew Kemp and Jason Edwards would be reserves and looking forward to gaining experience at the Cardiff SGP.

Brit under 21 winners would make more sense.

However of the 4 finalists two are injured (Lambert & Brennan) and two retired (Thomas and Wajtknecht). That would leave semi finalists Kemp and Bewley as the Cardiff reserves.

Most peoples formulas have Kemp as some one that should be there. I mean no disrespect to either Bomber or Kingy but I feel that they should almost be embarrassed to accept a reserve birth at thier stages of their careers. Both have won races at cardiff, so a night sat in the pits watching really does nothing for them.

But for a young talent just sitting in the pits with the gp boys would be massive experience and the opportunity to ride in front of the packed stadium would be inspirational for these lads.

Someone who finished in 5th and without the serious injury last season would of had a shot in the gp qualifiers is stevie Worrall. For him the opportunity to get a ride could put him on the radar in poland and Sweden and help his career move on to the next level.
