Poole v Somerset 27 June 2018

Recommended Posts

Well done Somerset great victory over Poole. I think every team that has come to the OTA this season has fancied a win, no one has managed it yet even with the team still not right on it. Even more satisfying when we put in a performance like this away from home. Well done Doyley and the lads.

No but we would have won tonight at least. Think the team were beaten when they realised Somerset had been gifted another heat leader in the team.

Well done to Somerset who gave us the perfect lesson in gating in heats 2,3,4 and 5. If it wasn’t for Klindt managing to get up to second it would have been 4-20 in those heats.  Somerset left us for dead over the first 20 metres. This happened earlier this season but recently our form has improved. We have ridden quite well recently taking bonus points away from home. So this is a disappointing result.

Absolutely tons of dirt on the track tonight. Is that the problem?

At least we saw Pirates battle back from 12 down to take it to a last heat decider. Trouble is no Chris Holder to beat Doyle. Brady tried and rode well tonight but Doyle is world champ.

Woryna came good after two terrible first rides where he was searching for setup. Found it and was excellent.

The trouble is we have a team of middle order riders. They are middle order for a reason. A good meeting followed by a poor one. They clicked together against Kings Lynn, but there’s always two or three in the team having a poor night on a different night, so no consistency.

Heard rumours of a change for next week against Belle Vue. Have to wait and see.  Congrats to Somerset on their passage through to the next round.

Well Done Somerset!

Just thinking but was this the meeting that Gazza said they had to win for the team kevlars to be purchased back at the P&P evening?? Might still be on Speedway Portal somewhere? :P

It was yeah, be interesting if he keeps his promise. Anyway great result for the Rebels regardless of Vissing missing. Could have been even worse with a proper 2nd heat leader in there.

A great win for the Rebels on a lovely summers evening. I thought Poole prepared the track quite well ensuring there was no dust but worryingly a large rut appeared on bend one about half way through the meeting which quite a few riders hit.

If the Rebels can replace Vissing with a decent heat leader (we have around 7 points to play with) then we have a very good team. Covatti was excellent again and looks a great signing.

Poole look in desperate need of a consistent race winner - I thought Brady was very good tonight  (he was made in Somerset though :)

All This euphoria over Germany getting knocked out of the World Cup, it is almost as if England have a World cup record to be proud of ( 66 apart).  I would have loved My nation to have been half as successful as Germany have been in terms of World Cup success.
