Matt Ford complains about Assets

Oh, OK, thanks. Maybe it’s a non-starter, but it would be nice to see a well considered public discussion between the BSPA and fans about all issues that might improve speedway.

TROUBLE is that when you are dealing with an average rather than simply a rider those costs can quite easily go up. Plenty of riders have their worth inflated because their average fits rather than their ability.

Good for Matt these riders are available for any promoter to sign and keep on their books and if a club wants to loan them they can , To me it’s  good business,  same in many sports.its a risk if no one uses them but at least we have a promoter willing to invest.

If the ‘asset’ were developed by the club then I think the system would be valid.

Holder as an example but for a club to just sign an established rider and then call him their asset doesn’t seem right.

Most of Ford’s assets are available  to others as he can’t use them all due to team averages.

This season however it’s costing him as some don’t want to ride in the UK.

No problem him having these riders as assets,but at the end of the day Matt Ford is now moaning about it because he isn't reaping any rewards from them.He can't have it his way all the time and now it's hurting him a bit.

But those are the one's he's discarded for the pirates for one reason or another, so he can't expect to just wait and hope he needs them at some point. And they are earning him money.

Many of the Poole assets are foreign riders who became assets simply by riding for the team, so not really any financial investment involved. As it's working out any financial investment would have been far better used to maintain the track rather than allowing it to deteriorate to such a state where it may not now be affordable to do the work necessary. The track is the most important asset for any team yet so many seem prepared to skimp and save on it.

For Matt Ford to complain about not being able to use his assets currently riding in the UK is just plain ridiculous. He agreed to loan them out so can't now complain simply because his situation has changed.

Whilst understanding the potential difficulties of the legal position I think that teams should be able to retain the registration of riders  they have bought and riders they have developed but the registration of riders gained simply because they ride for the team should be time limited if they are not used. It is ridiculous that Belle Vue still hold the registrations of Tomasz Jedraszek and Patrick Hougaard but right that they have Steve and Richie Worrall and Max Fricke because they bought them and Dan Bewley and Kyle Bickley because they have helped them develop from novice to where they are today.
