Poole v Leicester Prem A. 30/5/18

Recommended Posts

Im no track man, but couldn't it be bladed at midday, and relayed with dry shale and pack it, no water, just let the dry shale take the moisture out of the base over 6 or so hours, if it didn't look like drying ?

I was in Poole overnight. No rain at 11pm. Car and roads not even damp at 7am. No rain between 7am and 6.30pm when it was called off.

I was at my Fathers, whose house backs onto the school and Stadium. You can watch the riders go along the back straight from the pits into bend 3

Unless the rules have changed, I believe the home promoter can call off a meeting right up to 2 hours before the meeting. After that, only the referee can call it off.

I am with SS on this. A massive balls up and one which will have a profound affect. Embarrassed to say the least.

Even if Glyn had heavily watered the track from the time he got in would not have had that effect mate. It was deep into the track. And Glyn would definately not, have watered on an already saturated track..

Well you can't get no closer than that. Looks like a frig up with the track. Still rubbish. How much worse can it get..

As Lynn learnt 2015 in playoffs, Poole don’t have any spare shale.

I thought that Glyn was supposed to be a great track man.  As said above by flagrag it would be interesting to hear from him - because something is smelling strongly of fish here

Interesting comment by Bassman on the Kings Lynn vs Somerset match, about the Poole track, on the Speedway Updates site, see below.

"Not surprised at the call off track is crap, has been for a while they took to much off a few weeks ago and the sub base started to break up and what’s been done since absolutely nothing as it potholed and rutted out on bends 1-2 ever since, woeful state of affairs really, makes a dangerous sport even more hazardous, really need to get something sorted before someone cops an unnecessary and preventable injury"

Track covers anyone?

You going to come and lay them. ? and then take them up, maybe in the pouring down of rain, 5 hours to lay them properly and  4 to take them up, and thats to just put them on the centre green without rolling them up properly. When we trialed it EVERYBODY agreed including Ronnie Russell who brought them down said its just not practical. Then, you have to have the VOLUNTEERS to do it, people have to work, that unfortunately comes first.  Now, you can dig what you like out of that, and so can the other" experts" on here but you are all talking rubbish.

Friend of mine on holiday at center parcs and checked Poole web site at 6 and all good.

Gets to track and it’s off, now if Midditch himself said it looked iffy who on earth makes the decision to run when he knows darn well that the riders won’t accept it!

Club should receive significant fine.

The REFEREES decision.

Surely the referee consulted the rider's before the call off unfortunately all this is warring a little thin with supporters who spend a lot of money traveling to Poole and then get the meeting called off so late in the day ?
