Scunny Stag
The 2018 British Amateur Championships were scheduled for the 28th and 29th April at Scunthorpe's Eddie Wright Raceway. Sadly the first day had to be called off the day before because of the rain forecast (it did come and we did prevent unnecessary travel) but Sunday 29th did take place and was a huge success with 44 entries in seven classes (Support Class, Novice Class, Formula 2 Class, Youth 500, Youth 250, Youth 125/150 Open and Youth 125/150 Support). Results and report can be found here http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=8474 More importantly a gap has been found to run the six classes that were due to race on 28th April. That will take place on Sunday 19th August for Pro Class (probably should have been termed semi-pro), Open Class, Upright Class, Upright Support Class (those likely to take over 75 seconds for four laps of Scunthorpe), 160cc Class and Quad Class. We had 43 entrants for the original date and virtually everyone is expected to take part in the re-staging. Of course new entrants are very welcome. More details are available at http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?page_id=8269 but feel free to text me (Richard Hollingsworth) on 07832-402167 for more details. With the 2018 championship only announced in March there was limited notice to spread the word but it is expected that the 2019 Championship will be run over three days in March (24th, 30th and 31st). It hasn't been decided which classes will run on which day (probably decided after August 19th meeting has been run) but it is hoped that the earlier date will encourage more National League plus Development League riders to enter because of the limited chances of fixture clashes. For the record the 2018 British Amateur Champions so far are: Support Class- Tom Spencer Novice Class - James Spencer Formula 2 Class - Jamie Swales Youth 500 - Joe Thompson Youth 250 - Jake Mulford Youth 125/150 Open - Sam McGurk Youth 125/150 Support - William Cairns Edited August 12, 2018 by Scunny Stag
