Long way to travel when there’s an unreliable promotion. How would you describe the word normally.I'm puzzled because i think your description of normal(ly)must differ from mine. Strangely they are solved in Poland He didn't have a passport, he now has and should also now have a visa. Can't see why it's still being referred to as 'personal issues'. Meetings are being called off this year if there appears to be anything other than a dry week, certainly at some tracks. With the weather being so changeable I think this could spell the end for Professional speedway in this country as we gradually lose any sort of continuity and the fans disappear. I've watched loads of rain affected meetings before and those run of very wet surfaces - many of which have been really entertaining. semion
It is a shame for Holder really re-his passport visa etc. To think if his Great Grandfather hadn't been such a robbing old goat he could have been English and not needed one to ride here. Bagpuss
Another sensible call off. Everyone knows where they stand. The problem of course comes if they run out of dates when they could have run a meeting in damp conditions in front of a reduced crowd......
Star Lady
King's Lynn Speedway @KLSpeedway 1h1 hour ago More BREAKING | KING'S LYNN have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone tonight's Premiership meeting with Poole. The decision is based on the Met Office forecast which suggests at least three hours of constant rain and more at key times this evening. tellboy
It will soon become a problem getting these fixtures in on a Wednesday.Just had a quick look and we have 5 free Wednesday's up until the end of the season.Poole are riding on 4 of those Wednesdays and Wolves on 3 of them. What happens if we beat Leicester in the cup.I can already see Lynn will have to ride on an off night. ytsejam
This really is a catch 22 situation for any promoter really. Yes, it can be called a good decision because IF it does rain then it will be proven to be correct but also IF it doesn't then Chapman will be sitting there with a very red face. A few miles away from the track and so far we've had a couple of short, sharp showers today, so as it stands right now then the track would be fine. Dont like this cancelling meetings just because there COULD be some rain later though....... It rains a lot in this country and if every time there is a little bit of a "dodgy" forecast they are going to cancel a meeting many hours ahead of the start time then they are going to find that there will be a lot of meetings to squeeze into a very short time period at the end of the season! Looks like Lynn and Chapman have gone from one extreme to another with their rain call offs!

But you could be now having the short sharp shower we had 15 mins ago, I suppose.

ytsejam
Well, we've just a had a LONG sharp shower this time, so it looks like the decision this time was the correct one to be fair.
BurntFaceMan
Problem is it must be very costly and time consuming to start hosting a meeting that doesn't go ahead. Very difficult one to call. It's not like the promoters want to turn money away but I can see why they call it early.
semion
Costly to call off a meeting, costly to run a meeting with iffy weather, as numbers would be down and not to mention the damage you could do to your customer base going forward (oops I mentioned it)
Trees
The fans don't turn up if there is any chance of a rain off so it has to be off imo. Lynn fans come from a 50 mile radius, speedway needs dry weather As for covering the tracks, they are just too big for covers to be a success so we'll just have to put up with the pariah of Speedway! Good news having meetings rained off when we are not riding well, hopefully plenty of meetings when we are flying. Star Lady
Then the sun came out, and now it's black over Will's mothers. who'd be a promoter
Clive Ward
With the amount of rain offs we have had BT certainly made a good call in deciding not to televise any meetings until June
