Swindon v Leicester 12.04.18

Recommended Posts

A track does not go from being considered suitable to race on to a state of being unfit in less than one minute, but this is essentially what the Referee has admitted to. If the crash was down to rider error alone, then the meeting would have continued. The fact that the crash (involving injuries), seems to have been a wake up call is poor. Whilst the Swindon promotion should not be exempt from some criticism regarding track preparation, the Referee should be questioned here. They can hide behind the excuse that riders were willing to race but the riders did not abandon the meeting. If you have the authority to abandon the meeting, you are surely singularly responsible for giving it the go ahead (despite pressure from other parties).

What a load of Ill informed s**t being spoken on here....nothing changes , the track was totally suitable to start on the pits bend looked greasy compared to the first corners but all 4 riders went into the 3rd corner at full pelt which resulted in the inevitable, despite what Hans typically says in hindsight everyone was keen for the meeting to commence so keep your bull***t opinions to yourself MattFordFan you total fanny

If everyone coming off was inevitable when racing at full speed, then you've rather proved that the track wasn't fit for racing.

Incorrect. The referee, along with the riders deemed the track fit to ride on.

Hagonshocker was a bystander.

Read the thread. Hans Andersen said it should never have started. Therefore he thought the track wasn't fit to ride.

Good ol’ Mystic Hans.

Hans is a family man, loves his pipe and slippers and isn’t putting his neck on the block for anyone.

However, could this be the same Hans that won a Grand Prix, on a track that Tom Daley would have enjoyed.

How times have changed.

Seen a picture and it did look misty, people there say track looked ok. With it being misty, drizzling and an ambulance in use which would mean a big delay I guess at that point there was zero chance of getting to heat 10. Rosco tweeted no one was forced to ride.

If that was the case, why was it abandoned after less than a lap?

I afraid you are asking the wrong person.

I didn’t make any decision re the meeting.

The referee is the sole arbiter as to whether a meeting starts so your question should be addressed to them.

I attended a meeting v Coventry about 5 or 6 years ago. It was the first time I’d seen 1-2-3 Sarjeant in action, he scored a load from reserve, The Bees won by a lot and the meeting was abandoned as per normal after 10. An absolute monsoon and it was disgraceful that the meeting got to heat 10. I got back to the car feeling as though I’d done 50 lengths at Milton Road baths with my clothes on.

Tonight’s weather would have been the equivalent of turning up with a bbq, on Bondai Beach with a stack of tinnies.

Edited: liked the use of the word and too much.
