Lakeside v Peterborough frid 6th april 8 pm CS

Recommended Posts

Given the amount of rain that has fallen recently (the car park was a perfect example) , I can understand why it may have been difficult to prepare the track to the standard we have come to expect of late. Maybe next week we will see normality restored.

No based on the fact that your team is built around Lakeside track specialists.

So which track specialists is the team built round?

The reality is that Lakesides top four scorers scored 39 points between them last night and 37 points between them at Peterborough last week. Virtually no difference there then . All four of them ride for big tracks in the Premiership League. Absolute nonsense to say the team is built round Lakeside track specialists. The three heat leaders plus Zach can ride most tracks pretty well. Its in the nature of speedway that most tracks have s home advantage which is why most meetings are wins for the home team wherever you go.

The fact is that for reasons best known to yourself you have a chip on your shoulder about Jon Cook and Lakeside and are always looking to find whatever fault you can fault with the promotion and the club, never anything positive to say about anything so nobody values your opinion.

To be fair Custer it’s difficult to find anything positive to say about Lakeside, it certainly isn’t the quality of the racing or the superb all seated grandstand. But I should think your riders are happy, well apart from Kim Nilsson anyway.

Not at all. As with most things in life if you approach a situation looking for the positives you’ll find them, and if you go in looking for the negatives you’ll find them. The glass that’s half empty is the same glass that’s half full. I spent Friday night enjoying the meeting -both teams. I really don’t get why people spend £17 to spend the evening moaning . Maybe you ought just not go to Lakeside, not think about it, and not follow the threads. Unless of course being miserable is what makes you happy, but it seems a strange attitude to me . Life’s a bit short to go round moaning about everything all the time.

What a daft comment. What is a club supposed to do, hire riders who are no good on their home track ? Lol.

More like you are just  a poor loser. Get over it.

Richard Lawson, Zach Wajtknecht, Ben Morley all track specialists with Bowtell in the NL team last year and Ellis a former EL rider for you guys, then arguably the best rider in the league at No.1 and Kyle Newman on a very attractive average to me at 4.

Newman has been around his current average for quite some time now. I do wonder why people still think it is an attractive one, it's his level. He may push up to about a seven if he stays at second string all season with no pressure on him to do the bulk of the scoring.

Kyle is a difficult one to predict. At times he looks rather ordinary, but one the other hand he popped out of the gate in heat 9 on Friday and beat the previously unbeaten Ulrich Ostergaard, and if he can pull that sort of thing off against an opposing heat leader once a meeting its the sort of thing that wins matches, and he didn't have any last places which is exactly what you want from a No 4.

There is a long way to go yet but my guess is he'll stay at No4 all season , maybe with a small increase on his average . I like him though, glad we have him in the team and hope he does well. He is certainly not short of enthusiasm .

He's the ideal rider to have in your engine room at this level for sure. Wouldn't ever knock him for his commitment or enthusiasm, just that he always is portrayed as a 'bargain' signing. The Lakeside team looks good, as you say, he'll probably remain a second string and if he does then I can't see why he wouldn't hit a high six/low seven average wise.

As a few others have already said - I’m surprised that you think that. Morley is the only rider in the team that I might expect to score much different away than he does at home (he’s really got Arena figured out) and Lawson is great at home but through perseverance - he first arrived at the club as very much a big track rider.

On the other hand, from memory I’d say Morris has been up and down round our place in the past and Ellis previously struggled with the track as a Hammer.

Plenty of the Lakeside team should score well away from home this season, which is something we’ve often lacked in the past and it’s one of the reasons I was pretty happy with the team that was put together.

Can only assume you were trying to get a few bites, in which case congratulations:D ;) Anyway, we did pretty well around your place recently didn’t we?

It sinks to a low level when disparaging comment is made regarding stadium facilities over which the speedway promotion have no control whatsoever.

Each stadium / track will have it's own for's  and those that are against , at the end of the day it's another speedway track that is still open for business , like it or like it not , which we should all be grateful for with the sport as a whole in decline and very little chance of seeing new stadium development anywhere .
