ScunnyDan
Good win by the Scorpions boys, gunna miss Stevie, and I send my best wishes for a speedy recovery. Stef did well in his rides. We saw the 'Josh of old' which was really good to see, Jake got going after his first 2 rides.. Jason, full max, what more to be said.. Reserves, was really impressed, Danny, coming back from a broken back did really well and Gino did quite well considering he hasn't raced properly over here for more than 2 years
thebaron
In a meeting with so many positives A fine mild evening fit for Speedway The Scorpions living up to the billing A "good looking crowd Jason Garrity's debut 15pt maximum! A great track surface that Garrity loved ! A 26 point Home win Scorpions Heat winners 14 out 15 races All the Scorpions playing their part. A great after the meeting Q & A session for 20 mins in the Club house that all of the riders bar Stevie & Stefan attended ! Thank you guys. Just one "downer" Stevie Worralls Heat 11 crash that looked nasty chasing Jonas Anderson on the outside going into lap 4; there was just "no give" with Anderson and Stevie ended up pinned up to the air fence and no where to go but right ? ! into the air bag which "blew out alarmingly" as man & machine "went in" at high speed coming to a sudden stop!. It did not look good and there was at least an half hour hold up while they sorted him out in the ambulance on track. We don't know the outcome ? Josh Auty rightly refused to comment when asked about it during Q &As.. But it looked a sickner and may yet prove an immediate blow to both ourselves and Aces if Stevie is now sidelined for a period ? We will have to wait and see where this takes us. Get well soon Stevie who has a big break through season on the domestic; European and World circuits. So lots of positives and we'll take those and the irrepressible Jason Garrity publically promising he and the team were determined "to do the business" for the fans; bodes well indeed. What a character Garrity is. Also Gino seems a real personable club orientated guy keen to do well and get back in to his UK Speedway after two enforced years out. So yes we'll take the positives and go again at Redcar next week. But as good as we are as a 6 minus Stevie; we really must hope that his recovery is full and timely and we are a 7 again just as soon as we can be. Riding a man down already was never a part of the "grand plan" and the sense of "come down" regarding Stevie was like the air coming out of that "exploding air bag! Tosh1218
No Phillips was bought out by Newcastle who wasn’t going to use him , so we loaned him . As for stevie Worrall a speedy recovery and I personally thought the Redcar rider was totally at fault , theses guys sling there machines round at full speed but always seem to leave racing room for the opposition rider ‘ that didn’t happen last night ‘ . It will be interesting to see on a replay

Sidney the robin
This Scunny side will take a lot of beating at home even without Steve mainly because they could have a different top scorer everyweek not reliant on one rider. Can they do it consistently away?? Auty /Garrity/and Allen are key if those three can up there game away i can see it being a great season for the Scorpions. Also with this year you have a great team a great fair track entertainment second to none and exciting riders in Auty/Allen/Garrity to see ride everyweek hope the club get the crowds they deserve.

Sounds like he is non to happy with Jonas B Anderson.

June
With only our very own Josh Auty in the team from last year. Didn't we do well! Sadly we have already lost Stevie whilst he's out injured. Get well soon Stevie. Josh you were brilliant! Garrity looked so happy and in his interview he sounded so excited to be riding for the Scorps. said he loved the track . What would our score have been had Stevie took all his rides! So a huge well done to the whole team. Sadly Stevie will be missed though. Here's hoping he will have a speedy recovery! IronScorpion
Firstly, get well soon Stevie. Gutted for you, your family, Belle Vue & GB. Speedy recovery. Well done the Scorpions on their 1st outing. Rode well as individuals & as a team looking for each other. A score line I did not expect with track changes & limited practice for most of our riders during the 1st few months of the year. The crowd seemed very good & the win, performance & score should bring them all back plus get a few newbies & oldies back on board at the EWR. I was well surprised by our gating as Garrity & Auty are not renowned for this & I expressed my surprise at this to Josh in the clubhouse after the meeting. He said it was down to preparation, mentally & physically. Pleased for Stefan, too, as did not expect that performance after his shoulder injury last year, as we know it took a while for Howe & Jorgensen to get over similar injuries. Big shout to Jason, put his bike where it needed to be then his wins were never in doubt. We know Jake can do better & proved it in his last 2 rides. He seemed to be fiddling near his handlebars in his 1st race so not sure if his cut-out had come out. Our reserves gave a lot of effort but for less scores but they, both, will have better meetings. Not too sure the score line would have changed too much with Steve as we won heat 13 & got a 5-1 in 15.

That is Stevie just shooting from the hip upset his season has been ruined.
eric i
Anyone know why Jordan Stewart was excluded for moving at the tapes? Seemed really harsh, when other riders were doing the same and getting away with it.
IronScorpion
Regarding the tapes incident, JS was moving but did not touch the tapes. Reading in to what else has happened this year, only if you touch the tapes are you excluded. If you are not stationary at the tapes then the ref, as has been posted elsewhere, seems to hold the tapes longer. If they let them go then a few times it has been described as an unsatisfactory start. Even Rob questioned Margaret Vardy, the ref, from the on field mic. My judgement of the Stevie incident from bend 4 plus a friend who was on bend 1 was the racing was tight and, at first, Stevie had a go on the inside of bend 3 early on. He then moved to the outside line, and was taken wide on bends 3 & 4, where Stevie pulled along side down the home straight for JBA to take the wide line in to bend 1 and drifted wider, clipping Stevie & sending him to the fence. JBA then slowed down the back straight, as if knowing he made a mistake.
