The thing is Iris is that so many of us in here said that this would be a load of rubbish, last year when it was first announced, but we were put in our places by the experts such as Rising, who said it should be great and better than the old format!!..... To be fair, the "two" finals have got to be better than the absolute trash we have witnessed so far but these first two "qualifiers" have been a complete waste of time and more fool anyone wasting good money on these farces.

The qualifications are always going to have the top v lesser teams. We will see a few similar matches in the World Cup qualification round. Come the final we will have teams all much closely matched. I have been to 'Car boot sales' over the past couple of weeks with more in attendance than are at the NSS tonight... Pretty sure I paid less for me an my lad to attend the SWC race off AND Final combined at the NSS a couple of years ago... Ridiculous pricing.. phillipsr
Would be silly to put Cook back in now.. cant imagine we will see him again in this competition Edited June 5, 2018 by phillipsr
nw42
Good to see Fricke up and clearing the track, just a shame it was at the expense of seeing decent action from Doyle & Lindgren.
RPNY
Early rounds of SWC tend to be pretty average. 2 strong teams against 2 teams with no hope. Lets wait till Saturday night to pass judgment. But yes these race off meetings are pretty dire...

So far it certainly has not delivered much apart from Freddie's great pass on Doyle. Otherwise a total non event.

Vastervik last year we had Sweden 37 Russia 30 Latvia 28 Denmark 28 Year before in Vojens we had Poland 39 Denmark 36 Russia 32 and we should remember it would have been better most years if Russia had actually put out their best team...... We have a problem that there aren't that many strong countries and by putting even more weak countries into the meetings isn't going to help the quality Edited June 5, 2018 by iris123

More to do with the gulf in class between the nation's rather than the track . The final is shaping up to be a cracking meeting and if it is we'll soon forget the turgid qualifiers . Every sport has these mis matches during a qualifying process .

The difference is that in SWC 3 out of 4 teams in each semi are pretty good (if you would remove seeding); Swe, GB, DK, Pol, Rus & Aus. These teams primarily fight for first place to avoid race-off and there are usually quite tight results. BWitcher
The SWC improved in the qualifiers after some tweaking. If you remember back to when there were three qualifying rounds they were pretty much non events in the main.

Fromafar
Like people are saying Top 6 nations in a 1off Final would have done.1 or 2 days? Jury's out for me.Qualifiers total waste of time.IMO.

There should be a non televised qualifier to get the worst of the worst out the way then two 6 team semis and then onto the final.
TheReturn
Is Rosco having a little dig back at Cook by leaving him out this race following that issue earlier in the week, or is this just a clever tactical move by him?
bellevueace
And this is why I saved my money to watch on TV, such a discrepancy between the teams, Italy v Sweden, France V GB for example would be no contests on any track, worst racing on the track this season, the whole concept of this competition is bobbins. Probably put Cook in against one of the no hopers to make him feel involved. It hasn't disappointed in one sense though, I thought it would be bobbins it is. Oops Cook not trusted against Finland, oh dear. Edited June 5, 2018 by bellevueace
