With Layne Cupitt announcing that he's taking a break from the sport....does anyone know of what options we have of replacing him?

Wished that he'd decided this before completing 4 league meetings?

However, I wish him all the very best.

Birmingham will be very weak at reserve without Cupitt now! As mentioned above if he had decided before racing 4 league meetings Birmingham would be in a much stronger position, however it would've made it harder for Cupitt to come back! Can Birmingham get into the top for without him & hope he returns in time for the play-offs!

I wish Layne all the very best, it takes guts especially for a man in a matcho environment such as speedway to open up about his mental health. Ive suffered from Anxiety for years until I got professional help. It must be so hard for him in a job  where the focus is on him, where your being judged and sometimes criticised. That is only gonna make things worse so Im glad Layne is taking a break and hopefully he can come back and ride for us again.

His junior leagues scores haven’t been amazing so it remains to be seen of he can produce the goods regularly.

No worse than IoW's reserves ... or most other NL teams now that the likes of Flint and Drew etc. have been promoted.

Sheldon Davies won't be able to "win". If he does well, he'll get a CMA that might make him unemployable next season. If he does badly, he'll be accused of "massaging" his average, following that big points haul at Buxton.

Still, good luck to the kid as far as I'm concerned.

Certainly average manipulation is becoming a far greater factor in the NL. 3 pointers would be crazy to sign at this point of the season unless they have a concrete offer for next year (and there is no such thing in speedway) with 4 meetings to attain an average there is huge potential for somebody to have a few decent scores (lucky or otherwise), pick up an injury and then are saddled with a high average freezing them out forever.

The above happened to Bebee and he got reassessed at 3.00 so not necessarily. Despite what you explain being exactly what the rules say.

Another massive blow....losing Hume for most likely remainder of the season?

Who can we tempt to replace him ???

Richard Hall would be my choice!

Really rough on Hume and again unfortunate for Birmingham. The cruel twists that Dany on 8.80 whilst Knight & Carr would come in on 8.83.....im not 100% but suspect Greaves (8.36) is not eligible? although saying that he would probably come in on his championship average doubled anyway.

Wouldn't go anywhere near Hall personally and think he would be more harmful for moral than good.....id say its either Hunter or someone from the depths of time
