I didn't know the Fleetwood and even worse i guess, New Cross answers

You didn't get the New Cross answer!!!

In answer to Dave's question, I would go for either British Speedway from 1945 - 1965; The History of New Cross or the life of Tom Farndon.

It would be interesting to know what reference books they would go to to compile the questions for the last two.......

I got 15 - not bad for someone born in 1973.

I guessed Liverpool for the Fleetwood one, although I suspected it was wrong anyway, because the years didn't seem to fit.

I DID get New Cross... I know all the top division league champions off by heart since 1929 ;)

You know, if you are an anorak, age isn't important!

Hmmm, what would my specialist subject be? Obviously, anything to do with the Dons, but Individual World Finals and the British League 1965-1990 would also be good for me...

Very true :D

I'd go for Oxford 1980-2007. Although World Finals 1936-1994 would work as well.

Who came 12th in the 1952 World Final? (No looking up!)

Well it wasn't Jack Young, Freddie Williams or Bob Oakley.

I guess it would be a fairly well-known name, someone like Ronnie Moore (although I think he would have been higher - I know he finished 4th in 1951), Split Waterman or Arthur Forrest, rather than a one-off finalist.

I'll guess Arthur Forrest.

And two can play it this game Norbold - who finished 10th in 1986?

No idea, Rob, but I didn't say it was my specialist subject!

By the way, the answer is Split Waterman.

Fair enough. :D

Oddly enough that would have been my second (complete) guess after Arthur Forrest.

Given your specialist subject of British Speedway 1945-1965, which team finished sixth in the 1951 National League Division Two?

Those were the two that got me! What really p*ssed me off was the fact that I have only recently read norbold's "Speedway in London", and should have known the New Cross one... I'm so dreadfully embarrassed!

Steve

Me too but please don't tell Norbold, seeing as how I said what a great book it is!
