Sings4Speedway Posted September 13, 2018 Report Share Posted September 13, 2018 Think the order of the meetings is all important as Clegg aside the Stoke team will get thumped but it will offer precious track time for both Clegg & Verge ahead of the second match. Stoneman is no slouch either if he can get dialled in earlier than his previous visit IOW might make it a nervy affair for the Eagles especially with the threat of running out of time in classic double header fashion reducing the threat of the Eastbourne big hitters. Also any rider who comes to grief in the first match is going to present a problem as there little pickings from the Stoke squad as guest options. Please tell me which away meetings he had the power to cancel whilst " waiting for Spiller " as you put it. With just 9 days to go Buxton have 5 outstanding home matches so even with double headers somebody has to lose out and it has been Eastbourne. The fairest solution would be to put the Plymouth match which now has no bearing on the Play offs back to October freeing up a spot for the Eastbourne match. I had a feeling that was a strategic decision, watching the weather forecast a few days ago there was a possibility of rain this weekend in which case they could stay over and run on the Sunday. Better to risk possible 4 points missed at Buxton than 6 at Arlington. I don't think Baseby and Powell missing at Buxton would have bothered them unduly but who knows what circumstances there are behind the scenes. If it means missing out on the Play offs that is just too bad after all there is not a hope in hell of beating Mildenhall on aggregate. Hunters Posted November 15, 2018 Report Share Posted November 15, 2018 It sounds like they may be one of those moving into the Championship. Why else would they delay an announcement? Is it a contest between Birmingham Kent and Eastbourne for one of the two spots? If they were staying in the NL then why not simply say so. If the NL was diluted to say 36 points don't think Eastie would want to drop to that level nor most of the fans, if it was at least 42 maybe still the best place to be . If costs and level of the championship were reduced from last year would probably be a good move taking Wood, Brennan and probably Edwards with them as a base to start the team with Brooks to follow at some point in the future after another year with someone in the NL. Think the prospect of seeing the likes of Somerset and Leicester would boost crowd levels as well, whether enough for the Dugards to make the leap not sure, but we'll see! Iggy Posted November 16, 2018 Report Share Posted November 16, 2018 Seems the sensible thing for Eastbourne to move up and continue supporting Tom through his career development. It's always been a family club that look after their own, and there are half the team that would need to go if they don't step up.
