Farcical - a real 'chicken and egg'/'there's a hole in my bucket' scenario. Scott wants to ride in the Championship but cannot because he doesn't have a Championship average - to get one he needs to ride in the Championship. Isn't that what conversion rates were designed for?

If they have reinstated the rule as it stood in 2016, then Ed is in eligible to ride in the Championship as well:

 

.18.6.4 If a rider has only an EL Established MA from the previous season, which must not exceed 6.00, then a conversion is necessary; the EL MA is multiplied by 1.4

From the sound of it the Scott Nicholls uncertainty as really messed up Rye House plans

 

Where would Scott stand if he just signed for a Championship team at the start of the season then joined a Premiership team part way through?

If that was allowed (allowed to be manipulated) i could see how it has dented Rye Houses early season planning.

Hopefully, common sense will prevail but we are talking speedway promoters here and their track record (pun intended) is not that good. After all, Jason Doyle started the season just gone on a 13.47 average!

It is not really a question of Scott to Lakeside but more an issue of officialdom preventing him (and, perhaps others) from dropping down a tier. A shabby way to treat someone who has his length of participation in UK speedway.

Just suppose that no Premier team signed Scott.

Or if he got injured during the season and was replaced by his PL team?

 

He'd be out of work in the UK. That's the reality.

Rules are rules. Change them!

Its not the reality as then hed join a Championship team and ride in only one league.

I guess the superb 15 point maximum that Ben scored in the last home meeting of the season against Belle Vue really sealed the deal. Ben looked superb that night, and has come a long way this season. I understand for next year he wants to invest a lot more into his set up and get a full time mechanic and a better van, so I would say the only way is up now for Ben .

I think Ben was a dead cert and rightly so.

As for the Scott Nicholls business, without defending the bspa maybe they have brought back the no rider over 6.00 can drop down rule to reduce the doubling situation?

Still would rather have Nick Morris though, he would come in on a very nice average of 8.72, Scotty after conversion would be close to 1.5 to 2.00 more than that.

 

Question is, will they go for a top two then even throughout to get both Ben and Zach at reserve of push Zach into second string territory and have a 2.00 at number seven so they can have a stronger third heater or number 4?

I think we will see further tightening on doubling over the next few seasons, the fixed race nights are one step towards mitigating the effect but ultimately there goal will be to not have so many doubling in the first place, (prevention rather than cure) they dug a hole, a pretty deep one, and it will take time to level it out.
