Ipswich V Peterborough Ko Cup Final 2nd Leg 26-10-17@7-30ish

Recommended Posts

If we win the KO Cup this year, I will pay Geds fine in full for him, thats how confident I am!

Ffs, I better start earning some money then!

Thank you for saving Peterborough Speedway.

Pleased to win a trophy. Ipswich very unlucky - so many finals this year disrupted by unfortunate injuries. Hope Danny is ok.

Will Ged walk away now ??

My tongue in cheek comment was regarding Panther1997 paying Ged’s Fine.

Will Ged walk away! With a +40k fine hanging my future prospects are not confident. The real disappointment is we survived The Chuckle Brothers but may now disappear for being too open, honest and ill advised.

Finally great to see such a crowd, hopefully the Witches will give them reason to return next year.

Another around the 4000 mark as per the Grand Final

Fantastic atmosphere at both legs and largely good natured.

If only speedway could get back to that being the norm.....

Well done Panthers a great team performance apart from BWD who would have done better to extend his sick note. Result greatly influenced of course by injury to Danny King.

Great to see such a large crowd tonight. One old boy said, "it's the most I've seen here since 1952." Not sure that's right (!) but I know what he meant.

It looked as if the meeting had the stuffing knocked out of it in heat 6 but Ipswich put up a great effort, especially with Newman and Greaves just keeping our hopes alive with a bit of an unexpected 3-3 in heat 14 leading to a last heat decider, as it was by no means out of the question that Scott and Cameron would get a 5-1 in heat 15 and then again in the first golden heat, but not to be of course. In the end though, three points out of Danny King's scheduled rides instead of what would likely have been at least seven with nine not out of the question, was what did for the Witches.

Still, congratulations to Peterborough, you did what you had to do and the accidents to Schlein and King weren't your fault.

As for the Witches, oh well, there's always next year....

So true and the supporters were ante Simon and Ulrich at the beginning of the season. These two have been loyal to the Panthers throughout the years and so pleased for them. Well done Panthers.

Other than Harris who's been nothing short of a sensation these 2 would be the first 2 names on the team sheet for next season.. and possibly Starke too who is always there which counts for a lot these days. Hopefully this victory will have perked up Ged so he will continue.🏆🏁👍

What a meeting, some very good racing a great atmosphere and Panthers take it at the Death.

Terrible bad luck to Danny King & Ipswich and losing a top rider in both legs was very cruel. Thankfully none of that bad luck was down to the Panthers.

It was clear BWD wasn’t fit but he clearly just wanted to give it a go, everyone else chipped in at some stage with a good ride.

Fantastic evening.

Fantastic evening.

To be fair Boro matched the Witches spirit at the end and that pulled them through.

Starke Harris Barker and Lambert all winning a heat when it mattered.

Such bad luck for Ipswich, the rules are the same for both teams.

Technically there are, but no doubt the rule makers will be tweeking the rule that screwed Ipswich over the two legs. Had a top P'boro rider got injured then he could have been replaced by other decent riders, but an Ipswich rider got injured in both legs, but we couldn't replace them with adequate replacements.

I thought this was the worst I'd felt after a meeting, but then I recalled Oxford all those years ago.

For younger readers, we needed a 5-1 in the last heat to win the cup, Cook and Doncaster gated and it was nailed on, then Cook made a stupid mistake, took Donkey out, they got a 3-3, and the ignorant Yank was doing wheelies.

TBH if Sedge wasn't being such an utter idiot and not riding when he clearly can, you could have had IRR and then won that way. We can only beat what's infront of us.

Totally agree, not having a go at your lot, but I'm almost certain this rule will be changed at the AGM.

The rule as written is designed to prevent a ‘tactical withdrawal’ of an under-performing rider to avoid the three-rides rule. Unlikely to be changed I would suggest.

Great Atmosphere - unlucky witches - losing Danny King was the turning point..

Well done you Panthers - shame BWD turned up - looked like he was going through the motions to try and build bridges..

Ben Barker - who would ever have guessed? will he be back at Panthers in 2018 if we run.. ?

Does Scotty get both a winners and runners up medal? :D
