woofers
So just the 3 'proper' Mildenhall riders tonight then, Armstrong, Jenkins and Ruddick. Think Drew Kemp Is a very astute guest signing and likely to be one for Eastbourne to contain. Edited October 22, 2017 by woofers

adz_mft
Luke Harris guests for Mountain. The club has been trying riders from everywhere but have either packed up for the winter or live too far away

TurnTwo
I appreciate the updates as much as anyone but have we ever thought maybe this is the cause helping to kill speedway? As teapot just said he can stay in the warm and watch the updates. As much as Im all for moving the times remember when you would have to wait Until after the meeting to get them on teletext or you went to the meeting!! I feel for the promoters at all clubs as I see both sides of the story updates are great but I personally think contributing to the demise of speedway in this county (along with stupid doubling up/down rules etc and guests) That should read tea boy not pot lol

The problem, as promoters must realise, is the product. A whole host of daft rules are to blame, but can't help thinking the main factor in this case is the time of year. teaboy279
Been called worse lol, it was only a last minute thought about going getting one last fix. But always gonna be tight on the pocket so for me to go it needed to look competitive. Mildenhall if they can keep it to 12 points or so may have a good chance at home next week. So every other sport struggles with attendances that have live, second by second, commentary does it? Social media attracts publicity and attention and thats why more and more clubs are parting their own Twitter updates.

It's just a shame that a cup final has been ruined by rider unavailability.
arnieg
Other cup finals are availanle You could watch Jack Holder lead the Panthers against Ipswich in the C'ship Cup Final. Oh...hang on ....maybe not...
ruckerroo
Hate to be negative but didnt go tonight and shant go to the 2nd leg purely and simply because of mildenhalls incapability of getting a decent no 1 for the away leg. Surely richard hall, hurry or somebody must have been available, no slight on luke harris btw. I cannot abide going to watch one sided matches, eastie one ef away from 4 riders unbeaten, pah, keep it. adz_mft
Believe me they tried everyone you could think of. Hurry was at a wedding, JPB has bikes issues, Greenwood has packed his gear up I believe, Ayres not fit, Bowtell, Hopwood at Newcastle, Sarjeant at Newcastle,Coles away and the rest have basically packed up for the winter. Please offer suggestions to what else you would have done?
ruckerroo
The answer is there is no answer. The infernal aggro of doubling up and down in 2 and 3 leagues has caused total carnage this season and will continue to do so. ive never known such a rotten mess and tbh i feel sorry for the fen tigers
gazzac
No challenge matches at the start of the season, straight into Ko cup or NT,and make more use of June/July,never seems enough fixtures then, get the finals of the KO cup and NT done by the end of August, leaving September and early October for the last league matches and playoffs. Doubling up/down will probably scupper it though.
Islander15
The difficultly in getting a decent guest at 24 hours notice and so late in the season is understandable. The real issue here is the fact that the fixtures have had to be scheduled so promptly (in both leagues) and clashes have occurred and the NL meetings are the ones that have been affected. Mildenhall only qualified 2 days ago and this is a rearrangement! Peterborough only qualified 2 days ago and gave organised a home leg! But every year there is a fixture backlog in Oct and nothing is done about it. Edited October 22, 2017 by Islander15
cityrebel
The public certainly voted with their feet tonight, and who can blame them. Mildenhall tried hard with their limited resources, but it was all over when the line ups were announced.

adz_mft
So Jon Armstrong gets injured in the last race. Had to be lifted off his bike. Clearly in agony. Medical staff ran over. The Eastbourne riders then came out with flairs and celebrated whilst he was getting treatment. The medical buggy was being used in part of the celebration and they came out with a wheelbarrow to bring him back to the pits. A wheelbarrow ffs. A. the riders should have shown more respect and waited for Jon to be back safe and sound in the pits and B. the whole thing is ridiculous. 1 of the promotion team then went to go and either film or take a picture of Jon in the wheelbarrow. Jon then refused to go in it before the buggy was summoned over. Brennans mum started on a couple of Mildenhall fans for no reason. She thought she heard something but it wasn't from them. Apparently she was being held back, classy bird. The actions of the Eastbourne team/promotion was terrible. Jon is the 1st 1 on the track to anyone who has had a fall. Talk about no respect. Idiots!!
