Peterborough Panthers Vs Ipswich Witches - 22/10/2017 - Ko Final

Recommended Posts

I know Panthers fans are annoyed (including myself) about the result in the end but this was a superb meeting to end the season and had everything. Good crowd, great racing and thrills n spills.

I'm not annoyed. We've been riding our luck and got found out at a vital time, as we did in the league. It had some of those elements you describe but I think that superb is pushing it a bit. Liked by Humpty and Dumpty of course but it was more fun for them.

I've seen a lot of brilliant meetings at Alwalton, but this wasn't one of them.

No matter how good the last few heats - and as a neutral I enjoyed them - the first two hours (bar Starke's win over Heeps) were uninspiring.

We had a late start, a long delay while Rory was treated, and a one sided match against visitors missing a key rider.

And then it finally got going. The last third of the match was dramatic (and undoubtedly uplifting for visiting fans) but we had to wait a long time in the chill wind before the denouement.

Looking forward to the second leg, who knows what further surprises this tie may throw up.

Went to this one as a neutral expecting to see a cup final cracker... instead start was delayed, not because of the crowd but due to lack of ambulance, then both teams running R/R and Ippo losing Schlein meant that more or less every race was 2 rides on the trot, meeting held up for around 20 mins because there was only 1 ambulance in attendance, ref seemed to not know where the 2 minute button was and when there wasn't 2 on the trot and the meeting could have been pushed along a bit the tractor came out for track grading!!! Well done Ippo on not collapsing and keeping it close but from a neutral point of view it was hard to keep any interest going in what was a very tedious meeting. My first visit to the EoES since the shambles that was the Newcastle match... at least Schlein wasn't able to throw his toys out the pram this time because he couldn't ride the track.

Nigh on 3 hours for 15mins of action is a total joke

Well done Witches, brilliant response to losing Rory, especially the 2 young lads at reserve. The travelling support made a brilliant atmosphere, & I hope & pray that we are back next season.

Some good friendly banter both ways - enjoyed it greatly.

BTW 99 isnt it Humpty Dumpty as in one rather than and? Rather like liking Country and Western music....

I had to improvise as I'd already used Abbott and Costello for our starters last week (y'know the ones fixing the starts). I thought that you'd be pleased to be Suffolk's very own unique comedy duo, soon to be playing out of Hadleigh, Little Cornard and Snape.

Wtf are Sedgeman and Watt doing in the SGP!!?..is that some kind of joke?..as if it's not crap enough these days.

Finished ahead of Holder in the qualifying competition perhaps.

Assuming Holder was arsed to turn up.

Just as he's probably sunning himself out in Oz at this moment.

That was quality. Leve it when the fans get involved

Anybody and I don't care where they come from home or away should be thrown out instantly for this, the sport is dangerous enough without the sheer stupidity of morons trying such a idiotic stunt can only think he's brain dead or if he carries on like that he soon will be. It was certainly the 1st time I have seen this at the showground and in the interests of everybody's safety I hope it's the last.

I remember a few years back when bob dugard tried climbing under a fence to try and attack a few of us ipswich fans..again..I thought it was quality. top marks to bob for trying it. It certainly livened the meeting up
