You really shouldn't talk about your beloved promoter like that!

Matts not on the management commitee.

So heard rumours. 12 team top tier. Monday & Wednesday fixed race nights.

If that is the case.

Top tier British Speedway under whatever name will consist of.... Poole, Swindon, Lakeside, Rye House, Somerset, Kings Lynn, Ipswich, Leicester, Wolverhampton, Sheffield & Belle Vue. Who the other team?

It just makes complete sense logistic wise for Ipswich, so much less travel involved. Sheffield seem to have finally found ambition. Travel involved may also be reduced for their fans.

That would leave second tier of British Speedway a Northern affair. Workington, Redcar, Scunthorpe, Newcastle, Berwick, Edinburgh, Glasgow. Am I missing a team?

makes this years relegation play offs a farce if sheffield are coming up anyway,...that aside more teams in the top tiier is a good idea

I will say it again here - So the whole UK sport will need many less riders as all of one team in the "top" league can ride in the "2nd" tier - as has almost happened in 2017. With more guests permitted we will be one step nearer to just choosing from a pool of available riders ( who are not ill that night ) for each week's "team". Pick and Mix is that progress?

The only way forward is to rebuild at a more financial realistic figure and one big league set at Championship level but using Premiership averages and a limit somewhere around 33 to 37 depending on what they do for reserves. Best option is to have both reserves being British under 21 riders or National League riders as 18 tracks would give 36 riders the luxury of reserve births and all British.

No foreign rider should have an average lower than 4.00 and any rider on 3.99 or lower and British under 21 riders should be allowed to compete in the National League and be eligible for a reserve berth. If there is 18 teams, that leaves 90 places to find and there are enough riders to fill those places especially with new Danes, Swedes, Americans etc all looking to come over and a 35 point limit would be a decent figure for the likes of Redcar or Berwick to compete alongside Belle Vue and Wolverhampton on an equal footing.

Hope they do go for 2 fixed racenights and this attracts back some of the guys who haven't ridden over here for a while. The arguments/discussions on here about who should return on what average will be bloody entertaining

Looking at riders who could ride here are

Zagar

Vaculik both havent signed in Sweden

Hancock

Doyle

Lingren

Holder

Fricke

Killer(looks like he will sign for Rybnik)

AJ(might want to come back)

KK

Harris

Cook

If they all sign. Which I doubt they all will. Thats a lot of GP talent. Yes, they might not be in it anymore. But its only been a couple a years for all of them.

Unless NKI has a special agreement.

Well said Steve, seems some are oblivious to the main issue speedway currently faces.... Spiralling costs

The main issue is lack of crowds .Football has massive spiralling costs in wages but because the product and standard are good it pays it's way .

I can assure you that football does not pay its way for 95% of the clubs. Again it has allowed wages to spiral out of control.

You can't force spectators to attend but you could introduce cost cutting measures.

II fail to understand why every end of season the majority of Promotions say they have lost money , so why do they continue in the same vein year on year ? Surely NOW is the time for them all to get together as a group ( haves & have not's ) & come up with a sustainable plan for ALL clubs to survive & thrive ? The guess when the Speedway is on & are they still riding question is ask by many people I work with !!

Another question ..Would it be possible for a COVENTRY BEES team to ride at another track e.g Peterboro ,Leicester or Brum ?

They don't stick together, there's always someone who breaks ranks, twists the rules, or accepts inducements. The only way to make them work together, would be for the BSPA and SCB to have complete authority, then again, the current leader doesn't come across as having the capacity.

Blimey, Sky paying for something and getting nothing! Who ever did that deal needs promoting.

They wanted to get away from all the setting up costs for meetings, some of which were rained off etc, so I believe as they had a contract still running they were happy to pay the clubs the agreed amounts with BT picking up the setting up costs. So Sky got out of a costly contract and BT got a sport cheaper than it would have normally cost.
