f-s-p
Why is Millik unavailable Probably had something to do with having to sort out everything in less than a day and have everything ready to be shipped/flown from Amsterdam... PHILIPRISING
Wont help his Wild Card chances.... DON'T think anyone will blame him. The bikes were shipped out two days after Torun. Although they go air-freight, customs clearance in Oz can take an eternity.

Midland Red
The climax of the season used to be World Final night, with, theoretically, any one of 16 riders able to take the crown Now, for 2017 it's any one of two, and long odds against one of them - and the rest of the excitement is about qualifying for next season Oh for the good old days!

Wembley World Final or Cardiff GP?...No contest. I saw Fundin and Penhall among others crowned champion at Wembley. I did not see Hancock crowned champion in Cardiff when I was there in 2014. I always left Wembley excited, I left Cardiff underwhelmed. This may be largely due to the GP format as I much prefer 20 heats, top scorer wins, although I did feel Cardiff was lacking in atmosphere compared to Wembley on World Final night.

Pawlicki has been awful this season but had the Final been on the one day he performed, you know the rest. Davy Watt might win the Aussie GP. RPNY
World Final, a contender could have a fall, EF and be done. after 2 rounds of heats were generally only a few riders in with a chance of winning anyway. 94 final was ok 93 ok 92 boring (but great result!) 91 Boring 90 brilliant 89 dreadful 88 ditto 87 ditto 86 ok 85 brilliant 84 boring 83 boring 82 mostly boring with one major incident 81 obviously brilliant wont go any further back but point being we can all have rose tinted memories.... There's unlikely to be much at Melbourne That's rather my point!

If he had a bad round in the qualifiers then he wouldn't have made the final.
Mark
Unpredictabily or a fluke champion who is red hot on one night only. Depends what you want.
iris123
Watt could well have qualified for a one off final just like he qualified for this due to his Australian final score, just like riders qualified from the British final or from a Polish quality etc
waiheke1
AGreed. Would be surprised if Watt isnt more competitive than the likes of starostin and ondrasik who qualified for the old world finals.

I hope he does - to illustrate the mire that speedway as a sport worldwide is in. Or does he have the biggest circle of friends, family, acquaintances so that he could sell the most extra tickets? It must be something like that as his ability overall in the last three years demonstrates that there is no logical reason to include him, as an exciting speedway rider nowadays. waiheke1
ITs been explained why he is in. Im not sure how many more times or different ways it can be explained. Its rhe same way the British wildcard at Cardiff is chosen.
Midland Red
Why in a "championship" does there have to be a wildcard? If it's got to be the OOFC - sorry, SGP - shouldn't it be between 16 riders and not 15?

The retired and selfish Watt hasn't ridden a competitive race for roughly three months. If he beats one genuine GP rider in a race he'll have done well. He couldn't beat National League riders when last seen for Rye so it could be a complete embarrassment for him and the sport. No way can he be 100% fit and 100% prepared as this call up came late.. He shouldn't be so selfish by taking this spot in the line up. He retired and should stay that way..
