PETERBOROUGH will aim to take another big step towards hitting their late-season SGB Championship target this Friday.

The 'T Balfe Construction' Panthers entertain Workington at the East of England Arena (7.30pm) in their penultimate league fixture of the 2017 campaign.

And owner Ged Rathbone is anxious to ensure Peterborough continue a hot streak which has seen them reel off five successive league wins.

"We sat down with the riders at the beginning of September and set them the goal of going through the rest of the league season unbeaten, said Rathbone.

"August was a dreadful month for us - the Fours win aside - and we had to get ourselves going in the right direction again.

"We were not prepared to allow the season to fizzle out into disappointment and we always believed a run like this was possible.

"The response from the boys has been superb with five wins in a row and we're hopeful of adding two more to that total."

Peterborough recorded home and away successes against both Glasgow and Workington during a super September. They also beat Scunthorpe at Alwalton.

Peterborough hope to be at full-strength to face the Comets again on Friday.

Reserve Tom Bacon is expected to be fit after withdrawing from the weekend success at Workington with neck and arm injuries following a heat two spill.
