Peterborough Panthers 2018

Whilst we all hope England make the final we’ve two matches to get through first we win both of them before we should even think about the final so sort of getting ahead of our selfs here though it is only next Sunday - the obvious solution to me would be have the double header the following Sunday the day after Cardiff or is the Showground unavalble ?

True on the first point and:

Rathbone added: “Under normal circumstances we wouldn’t be running on that date, but it is simply a case of there being no alternatives"

Panthers are aware of the date clash between their Sunday double-header and the football World Cup Final, but the meeting does need to go ahead due to stadium availability.

Everybody understand that the Sheffield meeting has to be slotted in on that date - due to a combination of factors that have been mentioned: Showground availability, the league cut-off date,  Sheffield's ability/willingness to rearrange it for another date, etc etc.

I understand the explanation but think the criteria for refusing a date offered to clubs (ability/willingness) needs to be tightened in today's disorganised sport.

I guess the club will just have to take a chance then - going by every WC since 1966 England won’t make the final anyway so not going to be a problem- but if they just was to make the final it could be a massive financial hit on the club . Looking at the fixture list on the club website  you’ve a meeting Friday and double header Sunday what could happen if England make the final good crowd Friday poor crowd Sunday either way even if England doesn’t make the final it’s an expensive weekend again it could split the crowd - I also see only one home fixture in August that’s not good either in the holiday season .

The answer could be switch the double header to Friday with Lakeside say 7pm, Sheffield Sunday with 12pm start?

Lakeside are due to entertain Sheffield on the Friday night (13th) according to BSPA website.

Our last scheduled fixture is Sunday 9th September which is the final day before the league cut-off.

So, if Peterborough make the play-offs, have you any assurances that there will be available dates for the last seven weeks of the season

Can ride the fixtures at Foxhall as we are unlikely to need the dates ;)

GP IN SWEDEN HAD BIG SCREEN FOR FOOTBALL MASSIVE CROWD !!!!!!!!!!!

We're talking about SGB lower league speedway on a Sunday afternoon though so not the best comparison.

Logically they will cancel the Lakeside meeting as that is a cup match and have a double header on one of the other Sunday fixtures. They can then run Sheffield meeting at 7pm. Problem solved.

Agree about the Lakeside part, don't agree with the start time. Most people will enjoy a drink or two whilst watching the football so won't be able to drive.

If they want to be at speedway they will be. If they can’t not drink for a day (irrespective of the situation) then they require medical help, as their drinking will no doubt lead to anyway at some point.

Slightly over the top. Just hope there is enough tee total fans to make it pay then.
