So..early season and Panthers have beaten 2 of the league favourites even though 2 of our new guys haven't got going yet.. wondered what all the doom mongers (Flappy etc) thoughts are....

and thats a very good reason why you dont slag your team off before the season starts

theres some many good looking teams that flop and theres just as many unfancied teams that reach the play offs

Looks like we are going out of the cup with Lakeside winning at Ippo..thought we might go through as best runners up..until I just checked and found the other 2 groups have 4 teams in each group and we only have 3 which is not really fair.

That result at Lakeside costly

Pretty sure it's done on average match points per matches played - so we still have a chance.

Please can we have clarification of the position from Panthers management.

As I understand it the best runner up is decided on a % basis of available match points in their group. If that results in a tie I assume average race points per completed meeting comes into play.

It means Boro are in a strong position so long as they beat the Witches

9 points 4 meetings ave 2.25

From the 4 team groups this would require 3 home wins 1 away win and 2 losing points to have a higher ave

Given that kind of record would normally top a group its unlikely a second placed team will be as a good as that

At least it means the Witches still have something to ride for on Tuesday ;):D:P

It’s complicated to explain but we should be in with a great chance of best runner up providing we win on Tuesday

Failing that Duckworth/Lewis have a fantastic formula for finding a winner.............

Of course that’s assuming that your explanation is correct and we are running on that formula, I have seen nothing in writing to say that’s the case bearing in mind this is a completely new competition.

Thinking on....race points won't feature as it's not possible to have a tie for 'best second' based on match points (unless the second placed club in each of the four-team groups finish with the same match points).
