King Jamie
On 7/17/2018 at 7:26 AM, Arch Stanton said: Riss has been dropped by Edinburgh for a reason, he’s been rubbish. It's not as if Edinburgh hadn't been warned. Here's a little something from December last year: KJ's season review the inferior Riss: achieved the largest increase of any Monarchs' rider in 2017. However, dig a little deeper and there is cause for concern. Yes he started off like a train at reserve, and hats off to him for that, but when he moved into the top 5 he turned into something of a nondescript performer. Once there, he won only 8 races (3 pre-injury and 5 upon return = the same total as the unfairly criticised Max Clegg), averaging only 4.60. You really need a lot more than that from your fourth highest rider. Obviously doesn't handle pressure very well. Whether it be a last place on a TR a Sheffield or his going missing way too often in heat 14, the warning signs are flashing. Oh, and his performance for Wolves in the Premiership play-off final was positively laughable. Back in 2018? For me, it comes down to a choice - who would you rather sign? A - a second string on a 5.76 average, who could only muster 4.60 during his time in that part of the team; or B - a reserve on a 4.15 average, who actually achieved 4.82 during his time in that part of the team. Based on that evidence, there would be no room at the inn for the sunlounger grabber.
Arch Stanton
An excellent 13 points for Drew Kemp away at Birmingham tonight, including a superb heat 15 victory against his partner Danny Ayres, and the home duo of James Shanes and Tom Bacon. Good lad.
Super Blue
Couple of questions now spring to mind after the narrow home victory over Redcar. What is the real situation regarding Danny's fitness and the likelihood of him actually riding competitively again this season? If he's not likely to be back and be effective we may as well get somebody in before the deadline, RR and guests for the rest of the season surely can't be an acceptable option! Secondly, if we stick with Wallinger getting big fat zeros every meeting till Drew comes on board our season will be over before he arrives, I know it's pretty much over already but that's not a reason not to try! There must be an untried national league rider that would relish the chance of a brief go in our league who could actually score a few points? I know it's now only a handful of meetings but surely we can get in someone in?
Baldyman
Our season isn't over yet, have you seen the table? There are a few teams like ourselves that could easily get fourth. Now, lose at home to lakeside, then yes it's probably out of our reach. I cant believe any thought went into the wallbanger signing, and i find it even harder to believe another rider wouldn't relish the chance as long as they didn't lose money.
Sings4Speedway
With the time available after meetings its a shame there hasn't been some kind of challenge races organised? Wheres Walli and a couple of other challengers? 3 Races top scorer takes the place in the next meeting and repeat?
Fromafar
I think when averages dictate that you to bring in riders like Wallenger instead of youngsters who want to protect for next season you can see why the sport is in the mire. some Kind of grading MIGHT be the answer IMO .

Was outlawed sometime after that, and went back to natural selection process. Seem to remember a similar race was run immediately after the main meeting to secure a ride in the organised second half competition. 2ndbend
So good to see Mark Riss scoring well again tonight, it's amazing what having your favourite track as your home can do for your confidence. I guess a happy rider is a better rider. He seems to be able to score ok in our main body. Come on the Witches!
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Thats put us back in the mix for the play off places Big test next week at home - cant afford to let it slip straight away
2ndbend
Absolutely. Especially with Lakeside winning tonight at Sheffield. I think it will be close but hopefully we will just about have enough.
2ndbend
Hopefully if Wally is riding the management will get his rides out of the way by heat 7 on Thursday.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Peterborough and Lakeside are looking head and shoulders above the rest so far Perhaps being in that 3 team group in the shield and against them in the cup has made us look poorer than we really are...... 2ndbend
I think the changes have made our 1 -5 a lot stronger..... not sure about reserves, surely there is better riders somewhere.

Bash
Great to get 4 points tonight, but like I said last week don't judge this team against Redcar as they are bottom for a reason. Next week will be the true test with Lakeside home & away and Peterborough away. Still concerned about reserves.
