Sheffield V Ipswich, Sheffield V Redcar

Recommended Posts

Logic says that as Sheffield are running on an off night to get this fixture in that it will count towards the play off positions.

However, if the cut off is the day before, then that is when it is, no point complaining and saying special dispensation should be issued, it would just lead to other teams wanting deadline extending by 2, 3, 4 days to get their last meeting in.

the problem is the reluctance to get meetings on, I assume to non availability of key riders during the "regular season" Always amazes me how clubs can suddenly ride on all sorts of different nights when they need to get fixtures completed, yet can't (or won't) ride on a regular slot when no pressure on!

this isn't a dig at any specific club, as all are generally guilty, (although some more than others!!)

I do have some sympathy for Sheffield, Ipswich & Redcar as Thursday tracks and all vying for play off positions and when the scheduled meetings are postponed (on several occasions) due to adverse weather!

Sheffield's away match at Newcastle was called off in April. IMPOSSIBLE TO RE-ARRANGE A MATCH IN 5 MONTHS?????.

Any reason why Sheffield could not have ridden against Edinburgh on either July 6 or August 3rd??

Hope Thursday's double header does start 7.15 as advertised not with an excuse about nearby traffic or a parade but tapes up 7.15. Also concerned that if Sheffield and Ipswich are running /R/R (not sure about this yet) will mean further delays.

don't quite understand the curfew ruling for the double header on thursday.thought it was 10.00pm end of or has special dispensation been allowed because of this.if curfew is 10.00pm then with a start time of nine for the ipswich meeting and also the 15 min earlier start for both meetings, ther is no way that the ipswich meeting will be concluded or am i wrong?

There isn't really a curfew at most tracks that must be adhered to, it's just there so a promoter can save money when he wants too. At Ipswich there's been a few occasions when the music and talking has stopped but the racing continued.

If 10 heats have been concluded by 22-00 the curfew will kick in, but guess what will happen if only 8 heats have been completed?

The stadium was unavailable on July 6th due to maintenance work, and Sheffield could not get a CL team to come on August 3rd.

so we look like there may only be 10 heats concluded by 10.00pm and they will call a halt to the meeting because of the curfew leaving supporters short changed especially the ipswich supporters who will have made the journey to see 10 races?.i,m sure iv, e seem meetings where they have been cut short by one or two races because of the curfew.

The curfew is alive and kicking at Owlerton- fairly sure Bates made reference to it having to be adhered to and the pre-season news conference thing they did. We've had meetings finish for 9pm with an interval - so 1.5hrs to run. Start 15mins early, only grade the track after 7 heats, don't allow any messing about for choosing riders for heat 15, tell the ref to keep things moving at a pace and pray that there are no crashes! Simples

still wouldn't be done by ten.edinburgh started their double header last friday at 7.00 and only just got it finished with no hold ups.two meetings.3 hours would still me a 10.15 finish and lasse needs at least a couple of minutes per each of his races for gardening!!

Which begs the question fixture planning or the lack of it in June, July & to a lesser extent August has been nothing short of shocking.

For the third season in a row. There is also no mechanism to force clubs to agree to return after a rain off. Seems they can just say no to eternity.

Next season i think we should have every weekend date filled from the start of the season and any rain offs should be accommodated on our alternative race day mid week.
