sussex bulldog
Eastbourne Speedway are chasing down a top place finish in this year’s National League but face some of their biggest tests in the next few home meetings. On Saturday (September 9), their unbeaten record at Arlington in official fixtures since joining the National League is bound to come under severe strain.Lakeside Hammers are the visitors, who are also seeking a top four finish in the league table to qualify for the end-of-season Play Offs.A top place finish, although it does not give the IT First Eagles the championship, remains very much the Sussex club’s aim.It will give Eastbourne a choice of opponents from the other three in the semi-finals.Victories against Lakeside on Saturday and in the following week’s double header against Kent and Mildenhall means their points total would be uncatchable.Lakeside will want to upset the Eastbourne applecart and veteran Paul Hurry is in their side – he was a member of the Eagles’ 2000 Championship team.Team manager Connor Dugard has named a full-strength team for the vital fixture. He commented: “It will be the toughest match of the season so far. But if we are to finish where we want to, we have to beat these teams.”The match starts at 7.30pm.Eastbourne: Jake Knight, Tom Brennan, Josh Bailey, Charley Powell, Georgie Wood, Charlie Saunders, Mattie Bates.Lakeside: Danny Ayres (G), Nick Laurence, P.aul Hurry, Alfie Bowtell, Ben Morley, Alex Spooner, Connor Locke. Hunters
Very strange announcement ! Josh Bailey due to ride for Scunthorpe at Glasgow on Saturday. Have Scunthorpe released him for this meeting ?
cityrebel
Isn't bowtell riding for Newcastle at workington.
Sings4Speedway
Bowtell would be a big miss for Lakeside if he is away at a higher level with zero suitable guests around his 6.5 average. Pantomime villain Danny Ayres is a great choice at number 1 though and along with Morley & Hurry should make this an entertaining match up but as ever the Hammers tail is just too long but there is an outside chance of sneaking a point. Big interest will be how Charlie Saunders fares as if Eastbourne can settle him in nicely at reserve he could prove a real danger in the play offs
cityrebel
I'd be surprised if the hammers get a point, but you never know.
gazzac
Think the Eagles strength at No 2 and the reserves will as usual be the key, won't be much in it at the top end, but baring any mishaps should be strong enough to win and probably stop lakeside getting any points. teaboy279
Unless Scunthorpe release him I see no way within the rules that Bailey can ride for Eastbourne.

TurnTwo
If Workington and Glasgow is on then it will be easier for eagles as I'd expect at least 8 from four rides for Bailey And 5 from Bowtell's if they are lucky
TonyE
What is going on? The Lakeside Website in the meeting preview lists Bowtell as in the team.

Hunters
Weve had some torrential rain here all day today on and off hope it clears away sharpish to allow track drying time! Cleared through before midnight, looks to be dried out by now and a lovely sunny morning so all being well a good meeting tonight. Presumably they forgot to put r/r by Bailey and Bowtell ?
