Mr Blobby
Edinburgh must be the only team that would rather run a double header that ride on an off night. Obviously at £30 a head they deem it financially viable, just hope the handful of Ipswich fans actually get to see 15 heats for their money. If memory serves the only double header that has run the full course this season was the bank Holiday one at Swindon, in all other cases fans have been short changed. All our meeting are run well and smoothly. Done double headers in the past and had no problems and tonight shouldn't be any different. Why does Tommy the tape toucher make Ipswich stronger ? Double figures on his last 2 appearances and rides the dale very well. An improvement on who he is replacing IMO.

Planning permission only allows one racenight per week at Armadale hence the need for double headers rather than multiple meetings in a week. Barring injuries I'm more than confident we will get through all 30 heats tonight the 1st match will start at 7 sharp and the turnaround between the 2 has been practiced this week and stands at 20 minutes so all being well it'll work out ok I think over the last 3 seasons the Monarchs have ran 5 double headers and only 1 failed to go the full 30 heats

bruno
Sheffield have a double header on Sunday. £20 to buy on line. £20 on the day. £30 does seem a bit pricey, and I would imagine that any travel fans from Workington and Ipswich will have been put of by the price. Might end up at this but why buy on line if its not any cheaper
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Well done to the Monarchs for 15 heats in 80 minutes. This is how every meeting should be and not just out of neccessity for a double header. If all clubs did this for all meetings it would allow development and youth races at all tracks (even those that currently find excuses not to run them....)
TheScotsman
Totally agree taps. R/r will probably slow down the next one though.

JamesB
So, basically naff all from r/r and the guest and we still end within four points. Great credit to the 'Witches' particularly Mountain and Greaves.
spanner47
Well done to all those involved for getting 30 heats done in such quick time, shows it can be done, but most promoters just use the old curfew excuse to save a few quid.
JamesB
It's a shame that we lost Covatti and Hume as I think that the original declared line up would have taken a lot of stopping.

gregory peck
Never any hope of worky getting anything here, after the euphoria of beating panthers nl select last week it was back to normal service,no doubt our team manager will be trotting out the well worn clichés in the local rag, well move on and repeat as nessacery as we have the last 3 or 4 years
crescent girl
Considering the rain that drenched the area throughout Thursday and early Friday morning, the use of track covers certainly saved these two meetings. In the event, the track was in fine condition, even required a little watering between the matches.
Tactical Joker
First time visit to Armadale. Initial impressions were a bit of a shock, it is rather basic, but that mustn't detract from all the hard work to get the meeting on in the first place. Firstly the Workington match (52-40). Highlight was Erik Riss beating Craig Cook in heats 11, 13 and 15. Solid team effort from the Monarchs which was simply too good for the Comets. Matt Williamson at No.4 scoring 0 from 4 rides didn't help the Comet's cause. Then the Witches. With R/R at No.2 netting 0 points, and then losing guest Thomas Jorgensen again without troubling the scorers, the 48-44 final result was much closer than expected. 13 rides from the two reserves, a great effort. Once again Rory Schlein was excellent, and Danny King managed to get the vital 6 point tactical ride home. Under different circumstances could easily have been an away win. Ricky Wells deserves a mention as well as Erik Riss, 24 and 25 points respectively over the two matches, both were excellent and the foundation for the Monarch's two victories. A very well organised meeting to get the 30 heats in by 22.00, credit to everyone involved. Finally Ed the Monarch (the mascot) was also on top form, predicting in the program a 52-38 result against the Comets, and a 48-42 result against the Witches. Got both Monarch's scores correct and only undone by the tactical rides and an unusual 3-2 heat result. Ask for his lottery numbers tonight. Mr Blobby
Good nights racing on what was a slicker track than usual but you can't complain about that considering the weather leading up to it. Erik Riss being star of the show looked back to being at his best again, which is a joy to watch.
