fliss44
I think we've been brainwashed into thinking tracks have to be smooth and bald . I thoroughly enjoyed that last night , there were some terrific races , surely as a neutral that's what you want to see , rather than 15 heats of follow the leader on a one line track . Absolutely! The Poole track last night was not the usual blue groove and the racing was all the more exciting for it. No injuries sustained either -- I would even be tempted to grace my presence there again one day if the track was always prepared in a similar way. Midland Red
My brother and I only decided to travel down to Poole at 15.00 due to the possibility of a rain off. The forecast was extremely hit and miss, so can understand the decision of any Swindon fan not to travel. There was much more than 20 Swindon fans there but SS, I think, was trying to detract from the poor home crowd. I turned up at just after 19.00 and walked straight in. I could have even sat in the stand if I so desired, which should tell you it was a below par crowd for a semi final. Look forward to the hundreds of 'The People's Favourites' supporters making the short trip now they are right back in the tie. So, what you're saying, Poole fans chose the tv rather than pay to attend Strength to my opinion!
Tric trac
IT would help if these meetings were on a sat or sun rather than a work day for most...
LisaColette
IT would help if these meetings were on a sat or sun rather than a work day for most...Doesn't work any more, i remember when Swindon and Coventry both rode on Saturdays. Oh ffs, I knew sooner or later Lakesides track would be brought up😅. First track i could think of that is smooth and slick!

Steve Shovlar
Holder certainly didn't look to get to the high line on heat 1 But there was passing on the inside as well as outside. And apart from 1st bend incidents, only one fall all night. Certainly didn't think the track looked dangerous, and the racing was top notch. I really don't get how anyone can complain about the track after a meeting like that, or say it was a good meeting "despite the track." Glad to see a neutral give a summary. The same as you I logged on to expect high praise for a brilliant meeting on a superb race track. But the anti Poole brigade were out in force and couldn't admit that Wimborne Road is one of the best race tracks in the country, as was shown last night. I don't know how people moan about a meeting that had everything Absolutely. Best league meeting on Tv this season by the proverbial mile. Absolutely! The Poole track last night was not the usual blue groove and the racing was all the more exciting for it. No injuries sustained either -- I would even be tempted to grace my presence there again one day if the track was always prepared in a similar way. There has been no blue groove at Wimborne Road for years.

I think everyone understands that if it's on tv and there are no price deals the crowd will be less ...who has said otherwise ?
Aces51
I think everyone understands that if it's on tv and there are no price deals the crowd will be less ...who has said otherwise ? It wasn't many years ago that the play off semi finals drew large crowds but now it just seems to be the final. Let's hope that fans turn out in larger numbers for the remaining matches. Hopefully, many Wolves supporters will be at the NSS on Monday and vice versa for the second leg. We certainly need it after the drop in crowds once it was clear we were in the play offs. I think crowds are down full stop in most places.i remember having to wait before getting into Poole staduim and then finding it hard to find a spot to watch the racing .this year I just walk in 3 times and watched from where I liked..speedway is dying a very slow death in the uk and I don't think there is any cure for it no matter what format is used .
Aces51
Crowds weren't too bad at the NSS until, as I said, it was fairly certain we were in the play offs but to be fair the weather hasn't been brilliant since then either and that has probably played a part as well. It's unfortunate because the track seems able to cope with a lot of rain, as was shown at the Colts meeting against Cradley. I guess it will take a while before some fans are convinced that matches are not now called off at the first sign of wet weather.
hyabb17
Swindon's crowd over the past month, month & a half have been very good, you can generally tell by the banks being busy. I would have a guess that the bank holiday meeting has 2.5 - 3k there. I would also guess that the Thursday meetings prior to & After that we're near 2k. Considering we had 4 meetings at home in a 10 day spell that's not bad. Edited September 12, 2017 by hyabb17

theblueboy
So, what you're saying, Poole fans chose the tv rather than pay to attend Strength to my opinion! Absolutely. It used to be that you'd have to be there early to get a decent spot but clearly the Poole fans are only interested in speedway when they are top of the table and dominating. I guess most of them realised it would be P3 L3 v Swindon and saved themselves £17.
RobMcCaffery
The most important meeting of the year and probably the last - and the supporters don't turn up. What's the matter, does the loyal, fanatical support only work when you're guaranteed a win you can boast about?
BurntFaceMan
Middleditch says that BWD turned up expecting to race and even spoke to the gate staff at the track. He also said that he'd heard Kyle had been booked a week in advance. Kyle said he thought BWD had his bikes there too "just in case", despite also saying that Kyle had been warned to prepare for the meeting weeks back. Rosco joining the Matt Ford school of tactics. BWD brought his bikes because Poole were making noises about protesting. He was told to bring them just in case he had to ride against medical advice, in order for Swindon to track 7 riders should Newman not be allowed to ride. This has been clarified by the Swindon management, so I don't see why people are sneaking this information out as some sort of amazing piece of inside information. What's the big deal with Newman being booked weeks back? Wilson-Dean had an injury week back, so they needed to cover their bases if he wasn't fit.
