The whole situation today is exactly what happened in 1964 when the National League disregarded the wishes of the other clubs around the country and had to beg them to let them join the new British League because few if any Provincial League clubs wanted to ride in the National League. Bryce Posted July 5, 2018 Report Share Posted July 5, 2018 Workington are stating they have to rearrange all their Friday fixtures after this week, and that 2 other Championship clubs are also affected. Nothing about this on Lakeside's site as yet. One thing I'm sure of, if Lakeside are not going to be allowed to keep their traditional Friday night, that could well be the death knell for the club. Just a couple of days after losing rye, we are hearing that lakeside are having to ditch some of their Friday meetings. The trouble is clubs voted (with exception of those not allowed too) and as is usual people voted with self interest. I wouldn't be surprised if those Wednesday meetings drew the bigger crowds. Belle Vue's Monday night crowds this season have been the lowest since we moved to the new stadium. The Lakeside press release and the Championship problems of a Friday racenight, only put emphasis even more on the FACT there is not enough riders for one big league.
