Rye House Vs Poole 28/8/17 7.30pm.

Having seen KK at Lakeside i didn't want him at Rye. Not a team player and his scores were below par and seemed dependent on his mood. Whatever has happened since his arrival its so far so good he seems a changed man and rider so i willingly admit i was wrong. Getting rid of Perks was a poor move and if the intention was to make us stronger away then how can the Promotion be right with their choice of Ben at Reserve which clearly makes us weaker at reserve away from home.

Its been apparent for some time that Edward was weak at No 1 even in the PL last year and was unreliable in heat 15 in the lower league but he was bought in at No1 which was clearly a mistake. So he was got rid of because of an error by the Promotion in their team building not down to his form. Has Ben Barker been an improvement no i don't think so. The treatment of Sedgman was mystifying and pretty poor.

In KK's first match against Swindon he was unavailable and there were few options available. In that defeat which in the scheme of things may well turn out to be the loss that rule us out of the playoffs Kennett's replacement (Barker) scored zero and KK's replacement got 2. In the cup match Perks and Kennett got 13 Pts between them so how well the Promotion have managed things is not as clear cut as everyone believes.

So i do admit it when i am wrong but lets not kid ourselves that the Promotion have got everything right and their decision to have Kennett at No1 1 and include Dave Watt in the team were shocking decisions.

I think once the move to bring KK in for Sedgmen was made then Morley was the only option to replace the injured Rob Branford. Morley for Perks was not a straight swap.

Barker and Sedgmen for Kennett and Perks was a strange decision. Barker seemingly picked up on the strength of one TV meeting at Belle Vue. It should have made us stronger at reserve and stronger away but it didn't. KK's don't come along on five point averages every year and it was a stroke of luck that it happened and indeed that he looks happy at Rye.

Kennett was never going to be a number one in the top league and was a victim of the averages not changing for a fair while lumbering him with the number one race jacket. I hope the bridges have not been burned with him because he could be on an attractive average as a second string next year.

Sedgmen was bad, to replace him with a former world number two is hardly mystifying for me. This is sport and to win you have to be ruthless sometimes.

Watt was a gamble perhaps. Was it inept? Not at all, he had a good Australian Championship and if it had paid off would have been seen as a masterstroke. It didn't and he was quickly replaced.

I think some of the decisions made this year have been strange of course, but if we win the league we can't complain too much because that's the name of the game. All I hope for next year is more consistent meetings at home, well across the whole league.

Yet another 5-0 at Rye House last night - not just Poole's Aussies that crash out then?!

Rye is not a very good racetrack. Occasional good meeting but if on the slick side a rider gates and goes wide and no one can catch him. Inferior riders like Morley not being caught because they ride wide. Its not the worst though. We are blessed at Poole to see good racing most weeks with passing off all four bends. Prefer the track a little on the bumpy side myself, as Hans says, to increase the home advantage. When it was ironed out what happened?

Do you honestly believe the stuff you write?

Poole is not and hasnt been a good track for a while now bit like Kings Lynn.

At least 4 better tracks in the top league, surely the riders cant all be wrong

This was the first time I have ever seen a meeting from Rye House, the odd YouTube clip in the past didn't fill me with much excitement at the prospect. But I didn't think it was a bad meeting at all, I'd rather watch that racing than what is usually served up on TV's visits to Swindon & Leicester and in the past Lakeside & Eastbourne.

Poole is a 'good' track, it's just the preparation that is the problem! I prefer the shape of the track at Poole than Rye or Wolves.

I prefer to see good racing , the shape and size doesnt come into it.

Our track at Ipswich is poor for good racing i can admit that.

Belle Vue , Somerset and Wolves provide better racing than Poole, i cant believe any speedway fan would think otherwise.

There is a case that Poole isnt as good as Rye House and i would say Poole is on a par with Swindon and Kings Lynn but better than Leicester.

Riders bouncing around and struggling to control the bikes isnt what i like to watch. Many riders including the home ones have moaned about the track

Wolves is a dreadful track to watch speedway. Absolutely awful. The sport should be named slowway around monmore. Some people like it but I for one would not like to watch that every week. I prefer bigger faster tracks with proper racing. Just my opinion of course. I am not talking about track prep but the actual racing. Like having the Brighton Bonanza as your home track.
