mikebv
£1.5 Million on average a club.. Circa £310k for the best riders to around £100k for the bottom end of the team... And some teams will pay that out for just 14 matches... Over £20k a match for the very best... No wonder Poland wants total control of their investments.. Signing on fees can be up towards £30k! A different world indeed... Unfortunately cannot send link.. Interesting to see that there are no longer the £600-£750k contracts prevelant five or so years ago though. (Although whether that all got paid anyway is open to conjecture).. Edited November 6, 2017 by mikebv

(Although whether that all got paid anyway is open to conjecture).. Hampel got a 200K signing on fee in 2011 for ZG which is just insane. I imagine Doyle will be on some mega bucks at Torun. His signing on fee will be near 200k i imagine. MAtt Ford said that some riders in Poland are earning 35K per meeting. With that type of money you can do what you want with the riders. Sweden is 2nd and at top end they are paying 10K a meeting. Good rumour here for all British fans. Craig Cook is rumoured to be an option for Sparta Wroclaw. I would not be happy with this because I think there is better options out there as a Sparta fan. But he is cheap and putting him with Tai and Magic(speaks English well). Fricke is a lot of money to sit on the bench all year. We will have to wait and see. Cook must get a spot in Poland this year. I imagine it will be in Nice League 1 but if he wants to do well in the GPS he needs practice in Poland.

poolebolton
NOT just practice but some income as well. Very true. Quite a lot of income even if you are a cheap rider.
racers and royals
The Extraleague TV contract isn`t for peanuts- the clubs are getting big money in from it.
mikebv
Ride in Poland 14 times a season and get over £300k.... Or dont, and ride in Britain 36 times a season and pick up £2-£3k a night? In essence, not far off three times the work for, at best, about a third of the money... Most top riders will do Sweden leaving Britain as the next League down to earn some decent money in should they give Poland a miss.. That will be why the Polish Teams will be so bullish... Similar stand offs have happened around the world in other sports eg MLB, NBA, NFL, when those who paid the wages felt the competitors held too much power and salaries were running 'too hot'... Looks like Polish Speedway is taking its opportunity now to do the same....
SteveLyric2
With some strangely worded translations of the Polish statements over the past few days, one of the later ones refers specifically to Rune Holta (who is/was due to sign for Torun). It suggests he is the first rider to 'go against the rules' but is not clear whether its against the clubs' new rules or against what his fellow riders agreed on Saturday?! The clubs are due to meet today (Tuesday) so it'll be interesting to read a good translation of what their updated position will be and how the riders will respond en-block?! PolskiZuzel
The clubs are due to meet today (Tuesday) so it'll be interesting to read a good translation of what their updated position will be and how the riders will respond en-block?! According to sports.pl Holta signed his contract with Torun yestarday. (disregarding his fellow riders stance on the new restrictions) So the figures have been released last season clubs spent £12 million on rider contracts and sponsorship in the Extraliga. Would you mind quoting the source of your info. Where the figures come from?
PolskiZuzel
The Extraleague TV contract isn`t for peanuts- the clubs are getting big money in from it. The advertising space on riders kevlars has been disputed for some years now. According to some info kevlar's advertising space value can be as as high £210K per season, and the whole amount goes into rider's pocket So hardly anyone is going to give up on this. Obviously there is a conflict of interest here, and some kind of comprise would be best option. Polish clubs and the EkstraLiga are limiting riders freedom on signing contracts because they have to look after their big sponsors interest. The point is that the clubs sponsors are paying huge sums of money and cannot afford (allow) individual riders to advertise their competitors. It is therefore natural that the authorities of PGE Ekstraliga will not allow any competitor to be sponsored by Energa or Enea. ( all three brand names are Poland's energy providers) . Every year PGE pays a few million into EkstraLiga account and expects full loyalty. Similarly, in the case of club sponsors who spend several hundred thousand zloties annually, and in return are assured stadium advertising board and riders' their logos on kevlars. In their opinion, there is no place for the competitor's logo on the same kevlar and stadium. source: sports.pl

They got financial penalties for unsportsmanlike behavior. Well at least this doesn't happen in the UK. Club gave drinks to riders then said they broke conduct.
