DC2
BUT would there be enough riders to go round? Yes, loads. Count them on the list of riders' averages published at the start of the season.
Tric trac
A big screen at the stadium wouldn't go a miss like they have at horse racing... Â Would be a filler between heats and watch the replays of any incidents..
MattK
A Premiership of 10-12 clubs with Mondays/Thursdays as the fixed race nights would work. Although fixture planning will once again prove to be a challenge with the footie World Cup taking place next year?! Â I don't think there would be enough weeks in the season to fit in the fixtures for 10 clubs, let alone 12. Unless you plan to start the season before April and run past September. SteveLyric2
If you just have one home/one away plus a well-structured cup competition or 2 and 6-team play offs, it might just work. Start at Easter and go through to August BH Monday before sorting the play-offs in September and the final as this season in the first week of October. Â Otherwise if there are a handful of clubs who want and are able to afford the top riders then let them form a small 'Super/Elite League' in say April/May (with a play-off later in the season) and then those same clubs (without the top riders) join a Championship level, 2-division Championship league for the rest of the season. Woz01
If they could get 11-12 teams then can do one home one away and have 2 groups for a KOC. That would give at least 16 home meetings without playoffs and extra KOC meetings.
SteveZodiac
Heard from reliable source it has already been agreed that Mondays and Thursdays will be the 2 race nights in next season's premiership as Poland want Friday Saturday and Sundays Sweden have Tuesdays and Denmark Wednesday. Â Don't Sweden ride on Thursdays aswell as Tuesdays?
Barrow Boy 2
BUT would there be enough riders to go round? Â Yes if you incorporate a selection of competitive National Leaguers. If we had say 18 teams in one league 126 riders would be required, the combined averages of whom would be approx. 620 if considering all those who have and are riding currently, which when divided by 126 = approx. 5 per rider x 7 per team = a team average of approx. 35. Yes this would reduce the overall strengths of the teams but it would do away with double upper and downers. In say 2/3 years new stars would emerge and team strengths could be increased. Something needs to be done because British Speedway in its' present form has become an unmanageable monster which must be killed and a fresh start made.

It doesn't look as though Sweden will run a 2nd league next year according to this week's Speedy Star!! They are really up $#1t creek in Sweden and are having enough issues with their Elite league!!  I have replicated most of the article in the 'International Speedway' section of this forum. So if it goes t#ts up that would also give us tuesdays as an option as well.

HertsRacer
So if it goes t#ts up that would also give us tuesdays as an option as well. Don't think Swedish speedway will collapse. There seems to be a few top flight teams in trouble, and Ornarna of the second tier are pulling out at the end of the season, leaving the league with just 3 teams. A merger looks likely with a lowering of standard of the top teams. Might mean some riders be looking to Britain instead.
