Relegation And Promotion Play Offs

Recommended Posts

I think the best the fans can do is boycott these meetings to show what a complete and utter mess of the sport the promoters are making.

Just don't go. Don't watch it on TV.

Ignore it and it will go away.

If only that were true!!!

Over the years I've tried to explain speedways changing of the rules madness to the wife and most times she's eventually got her head round it albeit much shaking has gone on of said head. But this one, not a chance. Yes your right , the winter evenings fly by in our house. Lol

Promotion and relegation makes sense, but only when there is no double up and down doesn't exist anymore and when there are enough teams in top league and when that's the only way of moving up and down leagues

Very true , every competitive sport needs promotion and relegation to help it thrive , but the rules we have in our sport makes it a shambles .

Havent people been doing that for years now with speedway in general?

What is the objectivity of promotion-relegation play offs in speedway. All OK if the top league team survives but a potential disaster if they do not. In other sports where a team is relegated it is usually followed by a drop in attendances the following season when they compete in the lower league.

And what guarantees are there if a lower league side wins promotion that it will result in a SIGNIFICANT improvement in attendances to cover extra costs involved. More importantly, will promotion result in any improved attendances at all?

And how will supporters of the relegated team react to what is potentially a lower grade of racing?

As I see it, the promotion-relegation issue is yet another instance of speedway 'shooting itself in the foot.' Let's hoe for the sport's sake that I am proved wrong.

How can it ever be taken seriously as a sport if doesn't act like other serious sports.

Wont be for 2nd leg either as he will be riding for Belle Vue.

Heeps for Bates, for both legs, presumably they're thinking Somerset won't pull back the 28 points they need against Wolves in the KOC. If they do, Heeps won't be available as he'll be riding in the final against Belle Vue on the night of the 2nd leg.

another little nuance...

Presumably Cam can replace Bates for Leicester as his Premiership average is 5.25 whilst Bates is 5.52

However if priority was reversed then Sheffield as a championship club would not be able to use Cam for Bates 6.55 (6.8 home) with Cam on 6.93

VTM not so sure about Sheffield smashing Leicester

Nillson vs Josh G - Would say quite even

Riss vs Kurtz- Riss especially around Leicester

Guest TBC vs Bjerre- Depends on guest but say Lasse

RR/Pawel vs Bates - Would say RR

King vs Howarth- King but will be close

Newman vs Graverson- Newman would say

Heeps vs Wood- Heeps 100%

The crucial thing for Leicester will be who they get as the 2nd guest to cover for Lasse who will be a big miss home and away.

anyone who believes this is promotion / relegation needs their head examined. The teams for whtever leagues take place next year will be decided over the winter. Sheffield will smash Leicester

Can just see it now... the slowest matches in speedway history, neither team wants to win. Bruce Penhall 1982 Overseas Final all over again.

The promotion relegation game is just a con to get more money out of supporters at the end of the season.

Let’s be honest any club could apply to run in the Premiership and would be welcomed with open arms, all you need is a track and a starting gate.

Personally I would say the crucial thing would be which club Damien wants in the Premiership next year.
