cinderfella
So Chris Holder has been handed a 9 month ban and fined £3k after the Kings Lynn v Poole fiasco.I take it the BSPA are trying to kill the sport afterall?I just wonder if Robert Lambert & Kai Huckenback will also receive bans as they declined to race by missing the 2 min and then declined to go off 15m. In my book that is refusing to race twice and deserves punishment. But of course they are KL rider's and Mr Chapman is hardly going to see his own riders punished.British speedway is declining into a farce. KEITH M
So Chris Holder has been handed a 9 month banI am gutted I was looking forward to seeing him ride the rest of this season ( oh he was already banned for 28 days and couldn't ride anywhere else as deadline has passed) and can anyone tell me where in Britain I could of seen him ride in November, December, January and February...... 9 months my ar#e
uk_martin
it was the SCB, not BSPA Same people, wearing different hats. So, Chris Holder is now banned from the UK until 13th April 2018. Just looking at the fixture list from this year, Poole did not have a Premiership match before 14th April this year. (what they had were throw-away cup matches) SO, what's the betting that Fat Maude has an equally "lite" fixture list in March & April next year, starts with a weakened Poole Pirates team, and then re-declares his team on 14th April to include Chris Holder again? Just supposing like...not that an honest august and honourale gentleman like that would do such a thing of course... Chris Holder was a Kings Lynn rider at the time too. HOWEVER as probably the most ineffectal one for his average, Buster thought that he would be clever, ban Holder and get better value out of the guests that he'd be able to hire instead. Didn't King's Lynn do a similar thing with Robert Lambert, who couldn't ride until he was 16.

I was going to make a reference to the Time To Crack Down On The Aussies? thread over this matter, but maybe the Speedway Shambles thread is more appropriate? Daniel Smith
Was gonna say the 9 month ban is great news but he may not be allowed on these until 2019. Would he be given a work or holiday visa while serving a suspension?

SCB
The other riders didn't get into trouble because they didn't miss 2 rides. Speedway fans amaze me. Moan about the rules but don't even know the rules

The White Knight
Pretty sure Darcy didn't get a conviction? It states here he did: http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/10246251.Speedway_ace_Darcy_Ward_issues_apology_after_drink_and_drugs_arrest/?ref=rc or it did? PIRATES star Darcy Ward apologised to his fans, colleagues and employers after admitting: “I made a mistake.” Ward today issued a statement via speedway365.com after The Queensland Times reported that he had been convicted of fleeing police on a motorbike while under the influence of drink and drugs. Pirates ace Ward, 20, admitted a string of offences when he appeared in court in his native Australia, according to reports. The report claimed Ward had been drinking and smoking marijuana when police attempted to pull him over in his home town of Camira. He is alleged to have fled on an unregistered and uninsured motorbike but was later located by officers. He is reported to have been fined $5,500. Source: The Press Newspaper. 22nd February 2013 I'm sorry but when I checked the 'Link' on here it didn't work, so I tried it again, it worked and I copied and pasted the article wkha1. keef robin
Who doesn't have a criminal record in Oz?! Holder is not the same rider, if he bothers to return not a massive bonus for any club.

British speedway is declining into a farce. The running of the meeting was conducted by a SCB referee, not Buster, and he was the one that dished out the original penalty to the twice refusal to ride by Holder. That would be contained in the report of the meeting and the Ref Darren Hartley, would have dealt with Lambert and Huckenbrack on the night. But congrats on your rant.
TheReturn
Darcy Ward was given a visa despite running up a criminal record whilst in Australia. ("as most young men do" - quote from Neil Middleditch) Yeah, the way in which Poole and their associates kept dismissing his misdemeanours is partly why he thought he was untouchable and why he kept transgressing and committing more misdemeanours.
f-s-p
So Holder is first given 28 days, then another 9 months. Two sentences, one crime. I once heard a story of a rider that was punished twice and in the end practically walked away with nothing.

Don't think there's much fear of Holder walking away with nothing, at the end of the day Holder deserves his ban. I wonder if he will be the only Holder to be banned.
mikebv
From the official press release.... Holder has been found to have breached rule 3.2.7. which bans "Any proceedings or acts prejudicial to the interests of, any part or body of the ACU, SCB, BSPA, or the sport of motorcycling generally"... Blimey, plenty more involved in the Sport could be up before 'the beak' every week I would suggest if this is 'a crime'....😉😨 Obviously 'the powers that be', don't do irony....😆 Edited August 10, 2017 by mikebv
