Leicester V Kings Lynn Saturday 5th August

Recommended Posts

Serious question. Is there anything in any regulations about teams being declared before the public are admitted to the stadium.

Tomorrow's teams seem to have come under the official secrets act.

Isn't it 24 hours before that line ups need to be announced? Both Managers then have time to scrutinise the other's team to see if legitimate or not...

Maybe 24 seconds before for this one!!☺

Should sell a few pens at the track shop as many will run out of ink...😁

Why would Holder have been missing? Why is lambert missing?

Holder is still on a 28 day ban had he still have been in the side as for Lambert who knows if the promotion was consistent he'd been replaced a long with Holder and Batch.

Simply indefensible way of "organising" the sport / variety show that is speedway. The fans are obviously not an important part of the sport. Promoters. please don't complain as fewer and fewer supporters attend such shambolic events as this, All without any explanation from anyone it seems. Just give us your money is the cry!

Doesn't the fact get lost that, weather permitting, there will be a speedway meeting at Leicester tonight?

What happened to going to your local track - or wherever - to watch the thrills of the sport live?

Does no one get excited anymore unless their own team is winning, or likely to win?

Is winning the be all and end all nowadays?

Does no one go anymore for the excitement and the thrills of speedway racing?

Is a televised meeting really better than being trackside?

The problem is most people don't just go to speedway for the sport itself but to actually see their team. I think its an acknowledged fact that in most cases if a track closes those who attended simply drift away from the sport rather than going elsewhere.

If its not your team - in other words it is packed with guests - it will almost certainly put people off going, especially those travelling. I support the guest system, but in recent seasons it has become nothing less than ridiculous with meetings without them becoming almost non existent in the top two divisions.

In most sports, winning counts hugely for a paying spectator. Such is the passion for the team that watching them lose is so depressing it is better not to go. In my experience, this applies to speedway more than most.

No, televised meetings aren't better than live ones. The only thing is if a meeting is crap if you are at home you can just turn it off.

That's it in a nutshell THEIR TEAM. Doesn't matter so much if they win or lose as long as you can relate to the riders as being yours. If teams are packed with guests it might as well be an individual meeting.

works both ways, why do we call Speedway bosses of their particular team 'promoters'... do they even know the meaning of the word 'Promote'

why should people just turn up hoping to see their favourite rider(s).. then turn up and feel cheated when it's nothing like they anticipated.

Promoters, get off your backsides and do some work, feed information to your fans, your customers, you never know, they might appreciate this more than silence.. which in turn will get the fans off their backsides and support the team.

This is one of those meetings you hope the forecast of thunderstorms is correct.

2 teams 14 riders - what is it 6 missing because of doubling up or injury. Possibly Robert Lambert and Lasse Bjerre also injured, so that would be 8 missing. Other 6 who turn will feel rather lonely.

As i said in a previous post,we like our trips to Leicester on the weekend.First of all no having to get up early the next day usually.Leave at your leisure, not straight from work, little bit of shopping, pub, food and then speedway. But as i write 09:39 we don't even know the teams.I'm sorry but the added attraction of a bouncy castle i don't think will entice me to go tonight.

Looking at the Met Office forecast, there areonly light showers in the morning and a 30-40% of late showers early evening. XC weather (which is usually more accurate) has no rain at all.

I suppose they could do a King's Lynn and say that the weather has been bad and the forecast is poor when it hasn't and isn't.

I'm one of those HT. When Rye closed at the end of the 1993 season I gave up watching speedway altogether. In truth I'd lost interest by then anyway after recently marrying and becoming a father for the first time.

I didn't watch another meeting (live or TV) until I returned to Rye House in 2000.

Now I'm living in Berwick I'll pop along to the odd meeting, but nothing beats watching your own team... nothing

The BSPA have invented a super dooper powerful new bouncy castle that will bounce doubling up riders from Leicester after their first ride to their Championship club and back again so they can ride for both clubs......who says they never do anything for speedway

Think we're at that point in the season where clubs are getting desperate to fulfill fixtures.

We're gonna have to live with guests & R/R from here on in

I think we have been living with them from March.

Its rare indeed you see a meeting without them.

Will wait and see if Lambert doesn't ride tonight Lynn but turns out for Newcastle in the 4s tomorrow afternoon that will be interesting.

Robert is not riding at Pbro, he is out injured as per BSPA page relayed by George English so i cannot see him riding at Leicester. He has had some serious knocks in U21 Newcastle and KL meetings. He needs a break !!
