Terrace Grumbler
I'll be there but increasingly I wonder why. In my book, Hopwood and Bowtell are second halfers. Look mummy, the Emperor's got no clothes.

Look mummy, the Emperor's got no clothes. I think that is a bit harsh on Ben he's a two point rider and came in well into the season to replace Danny Philips injured I quite like both Ben and Danny, as for Alfie I can't comment as I have not seen him ride for or against us, however what I will say he seemed to get better comments in his guest appearance against us than he does riding for us, is he another rider we have killed his confidence? I have said it before & I stand by it we have two weaknesses in the camp one is Ludvig Lindgren, & the other is George English is no good as a team manager he's useless and to be successful we need to get rid of these week links . mike7164
you beat me to it, (the harsh bit) but that is harsher Well you are fully entitled to your view, but that is mine and if you look at a lot of the teams that George has put together they all follow similar results by the end of the campaigns and in most other sports or IMO even most other teams would of replaced both week links a long time ago. Unless,,, they've both got it stitched-up. Edited July 29, 2017 by ruffdiamond

Unless,,, they've both got it stitched-up. That doesn't make sense to me Ludvig Lindgren has been there under preforming for years now if any rider under preforms as a whole the way he has down the years you get rid of, if you are unable to do so for the reminder of the season due to riders availability or averages etc then you do the next season, you don't resign them year after year and keep making him captain! As for George he puts the teams together and is there as a manager so he fails to manage get shot of simples, when he returned to the role in 2009 after Dickie he was only supposed to be there as tempery stand in and he we are eight years on and he's still there? as for "speedway is not like 'most other sports', it is pretty unique" this may well be the case but it wants so we are led to believe to be known as a professional sport where in my view its vastly becoming over priced Micky Mouse affair. Mind that's not just Newcastle its the whole sport.

Surely there must be lots of folk that would be able to step in.as for Ludvig, if he is a 7pt man, thats what he is,,, am sure there's plenty around. as for being pretty unique, there seems to be a rule book that changes like the wind and, whats in it seems ambigious at best. the rules make the sport complicated, but speedway does seem to make easy things hard Edited July 30, 2017 by ruffdiamond

Aceslider
So when you say get rid of george do you mean altogether from the club Would there be speedway at Newcastle without George? Difficult to envisage speedway surviving for long at Newcastle without the continued devotion of the English family. I stand to be shot down in flames from those who know better!

Diamondlil
When Luddy was made captain I thought it would be the making of him,if anything he's gone backwards.A captain is supposed to lead by example,IMO he doesn't.he would be the first one that would be dropped next season
erniew
I agree with Aceslider, George is not only team manager but co-owner, without his financial support (along with others) and the work done by his family I very much doubt there would be speedway in Newcastle. I stand to be shot down in flames from those who know better! My argument exactly!!! unfortunately certain people on here talk out of their arses most of the time like I said previously on other threads they weren't whingeing when we were winning the league and KOC, yes we're having a bad season, and I'm sure they'll look at how the team is built abit differently next season. Going with two 2 pointers was a bit of a gamble but had Phillips not been injured it may well have been a very different season. Ad 3-4 points to each of the match scores and it doesnt look far from being a team challenging for the play offs to me.
andys
The promotion took a chance on having two big hitters in the side in the hope that other riders would step up to the mark which hasn't happened, IF we had not gone with the top two we have morris could maybe have been at 6 which imo would have made a big difference to the season overall, but hindsight is a great thing and where as the season has been disappointing I've still enjoyed it.
