tellboy
Just thought i would get this one going very early i know. And before anyone jumps on my back i know we have a home meeting against Swindon before then. But i couldn't believe i have just seen on the BSPA site it's a tenner for adults, yes £10.This is what we have all been waiting for isn't it. C'mon Starlady, you can open those purse strings now and grace us with your attendance . Edited July 28, 2017 by tellboy

AlexBrady
Good to see! It might be on T.V. but for me, there is no substitute seeing it live in front of you. I really hope everyone gets behind this - and here's hoping that JC can get back involved too!

The £10 is not a wonderful gift by KLS. It may not even have been the BSPA's initiative. It could have been a condition of BT's coverage. Can anyone enlighten us on this? pointsmeanplayoffs
I'm bored of negative, cynical comments when a team tries to do something to PROMOTE the sport. You get the sport you deserve, and some fans are only happy when they moan. The Stars are in a pretty bad place at the moment, and the fact they are trying to do something to attract crowds should be applauded - reduced admission for TV meetings is NOT something Stars have done in the past. I hope many fans will come along, and treat this as a bit of a clean slate. Something to move forward from..... There is scheduled fixture before Somerset but.... who knows if we will get to see it. The amount of times I've read something like 'speedway is a £10 a ticket sport' on here, and as soon a team tries to run a promotion people start looking for a sinister reason why they are doing it?! Maybe it's to get punters through the gate so it looks good/exciting/fun on TV, which you know, might encourage someone watching it on TV to actually go and watch a meeting live in the future? TV is the best form of promotion for the sport, get it out there to a wider audience and attract new fans.

Youre quite right though, prices like this should be applauded as clubs would've had to agree to it.

TV is the best form of promotion for the sport, get it out there to a wider audience and attract new fans. The reduced price is part of the BT deal and has been done by all clubs for televised matches. It is not a KL initiative. Reducing the prices is useless unless it leads to increased attendance, which means someone getting of their backside and PROMOTING the meeting. I have put a suggestion ( reasonably cheap) on the Kings Lynn thread. I'm sure the club would welcome all suggestions and take action on most of them ....ooops I just woke up. tellboy
Bloody hell, wished i had never started this thread now.So much negativity on here is unbelievable. So what if it is part of the BT deal(not seen evidence of that yet though). It's still £10 so stop the bloody moaning. You have seen so many posters saying the sport is only a £10 sport, now people are moaning because it's meant to be part of the BT deal,so what, who cares any incentive is welcome is it not.

Sorry if you think anything I wrote was moaning. Wasn't meant to be merely pointing out that the reduced admission is 1 BT sport realise empty stadia do nothing for its viewers or the sport 2 having agreed to reduce the price it's an ideal opportunity to do some PR and increase the fan base Maybe I shouldn't bother. The only incentive unless it's promoted is to existing fans. Belle Vue (and other clubs) managed to promote the offers well. A three quarter full stadium came across well on TV, the increased atmosphere of full terraces might have encouraged some TV viewers to give live speedway a go. Here comes the negative bit....we will probably never know at Lynn cos past history shows promotion is just about extinct in Norfolk

The quality of broadcasts nowadays is so good that I for one prefer it. With repeats and being in the thick of the action with passing as well as expert commentary (as far as I am concerned ) much better than being there. The mythical "atmosphere" is just that nowadays a myth - mostly effing and blinding and pushing the airhorn button to be honest. Although I have concerns on how KLS is being run and hope for better things I don't think we can so easily "put behind things" - unless some things change. Don't we just love them. Every match/game in whatever sport should take place with absolutely no-one present. What fun that would be. I rarely respond to such posters who are unable to read or translate the post into coherent thought, in what passes for their mind. I wrote that I prefer to watch THIS particular televised match on TV because I have a choice, I have attended almost all of the previous home matches and I have posted only a few posts behind this, that I am going on Weds. ( weather permitting ) because Buster's changes appeal to me. There is much better VFM entertainment in my opinion in watching the broadcast, than going there. Should I not watch the other matches on Monday evenings or the playoffs, that I am unable to travel to? I don't use the finger wagging emoji so thoughtlessly or know if there is a one fingered emoji, pointing straight up, which I would have used. I accept it is your and everyone's right not to go and to watch it on TV instead. I can't, however, notice the use of THIS as you state. You say "I prefer to watch it on TV and I will. Much better than being there". From my point of view, you wouldn't get me within a million miles of the place. Will I watch it on TV? Probably not but I might if I get fed up watching the grass grow. From a general sporting point of view, there is no comparison, in my view, with being present at an event and watching it on TV. I have always said what I think about armchair viewers who never leave the house. It is their right to do so in much the same way as it is my right to give my opinion on them. I was pleased to see that we have a similar opinion about everyone being entitled to their own point of view. I used "this" in my post because I can't ( sadly ) watch other KL hone matches on TV - I would be happy to pay, if Pay per View facilities existed. I used to think that it was always better to be present at a match but the huge improvement in broadcast quality and camera techniques mean that - for me - I get more pleasure as a speedway fan from watching the broadcast version. If I want to follow the Stars in other home matches, as I have done since they started in KL, I have no choice but to go to the stadium as I invariably do. As you say TV coverage now is excellent, contrast that with what I endured last Wednesday and I'd be mad to go in person. There is nothing that is better in person. On TV I can hear what's in interviews, I can see who is in an upcoming heat, I can see the racing (if there is any lol) fa better than from the terraces, can see replays, no one blows smoke in my direction , no bored kids creating mayhem and there is just as much atmosphere in my lounge as there is at the stadium. It's a no brainier. Like you I'd be more than happy to pay per view, and not just Lynn matches. As it is I pay a subscription to BT so will use it. I have shared the clubs social media stuff on a couple of the social groups sites that I belong to as I know there are lots of folk who used to go "back in the day", I emphasised the only a tenner and before anyone asks didn't give any negative comments at all. So far no one has said they will go but I have tried. Edited August 4, 2017 by Star Lady

So far no one has said they will go but I have tried. Thankfully there are people who think much the same as us , just as there those who say " nothing beats being there". The toilets smell cleaner and the beer is cheaper and the access to the exciting bits is sharp and clear - not 100 yards away and if anything goes amiss, such as the riders not liking the track or the weather changing rapidly I can do something else. Best of all for me is that I don't have to endure the interval i.e. " being present for it". A definite no brainer for me. Why is Pay per View ( not at BT / Sky broadcast quality or so multi camera ) impossible in this day and age? I would spend £5 or even £10 to see a match I thought might just be worth it!
Mimmo
Hold on do you honestly think The promotion has not tried getting new punters in from the coast! Do you really believe that Because you are so wrong!! They have been to all the big sites leaflet dropped every one of them even on occasion took riders and machines to Sunny Hunny Result half a dozen out of town fans turned up.Face it on holiday your not going to go to Speedway unless your a fan.Or more like some on here NEVER grace the terrace at all ! I think some of you believe the Promotion just sit and dream about how to p@@@ you off ! They cant do right for being wrong in your eyes Now off soap box and look forward to some good speedway again ! Back your club Every few miles, sometimes less, you get large yellow posters along the A149, A10 and I dare say other roads, advertising the next Stock Car/Banger meeting, and it seems such a shame that the same can't be done for speedway.
